My husband and I along with our 2 young children stayed in this apartment in August 2014 & had a great time! The weather was lovely and the location of the apartment was ideal - a few steps from the pool and a short drive to the beach, shops & restaurants (it is walkable but we had hired a car to see more of the island so used that). Although we didn't eat there, there is a restaurant on site which is a short stroll from the apartment.
The best thing about the apartment is that the pool is literally at the bottom of the steps leading up to the apartment, so we were able to pop back to the apartment easily if we forgot something. Also, one of us would sit on the balcony whilst out youngest was napping & as it overlooks the pool we were able to still be part of the outdoor fun that the other partner & child were having. The large balcony also provides ample space for storing beach stuff so as not to bring sand into the apartment. Worth noting also that the balconies are all secure so our crawling baby could not escape!
The apartment is set within Rockley Golf complex and is also fitted with security bars on the windows & doors which meant that we felt very secure. The apartment has literally everything you could need (including all cooking utensils) and even a bbq on the patio. There is a DVD player & cable tv with quite a few children's channels. The laundry facilities are a short walk away on the other side of the pool & you can get free tokens from the main office.
We took our travel cot & an inflatable mattress for the kids & there was ample space in the bedroom to fit them in. The apartment was just right for us but would also suit a couple or 2 individuals. More could be accommodated if you took some inflatable mattresses.
The apartment is lovely & cool with a nice breeze flowing through it but there are fans which we used whenever we were in as Barbados can get quite hot! There is AC in the bedroom which we would put on for about an hour just to cool the bedroom before going to bed & then we would switch it off & just use the fan for the rest of the night which kept the room at a very comfortable temperature.
From booking to receiving directions & instructions on how to collect the keys, everything was very straightforward and the owners were very helpful. There is also a very handy visitor guide which we found on the coffee table in the apartment & that answered any questions we had.
Supermarket – the nearest Massy shop is a 2 min drive away from the apartment & has long opening hours & stocks pretty much everything (turn left out of the complex, turn right at T-junction & then Massy is on your right about 100yds down).
Restaurants – Blakeys (right on the boardwalk so perfect for an early evening meal after a stroll on the boardwalk, everything we tried was delicious), Chutney’s (located in the Lanterns shopping centre, it serves the best rotis), Bubba’s Sports Bar (for big burgers, cheap cocktails & a choice of sports on TV), the Trini Doubles shack in the Tri Market car park (ask for a doubles with everything, think they were only $4 each so very reasonable & if you buy 4 you get 1 of them free), Ackee Tree (good local dishes), Champers (a romantic meal out in a beautiful beachfront location, on the pricey side but worth it), Chefette (the Barbados equivalent to KFC plus a whole load more, the best vanilla milkshakes ever!) & Divi Southwinds Beach Resort (restaurant on the beach with lovely views & good food & cocktails).
Activities – Harrison’s Cave, Chefette indoor play (for rainy days), snorkel with turtles in Carlisle Bay (just get swimming & you’re bound to spot some) & the Globe drive-in.
Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did!
