My husband and I just spent 11 blissful nights in this high end 4 star paradise. all inclusive.

We arrived to cold towels and welcome cocktails. The reception is beautifully and tastefully decorated in a chic beach style. Check in was friendly and efficient and we were taken to our room by a porter. Room 401 a King suite with a garden view on the top floor. It was spotlessly clean and newly decorated and I thought very nice. Very good facilities with robes and slippers. White company toiletries including shampoo and conditioner and body and hand cream. 10 hangers. Two TVs two air con units. A fridge and freezer (only containing two bottles of water and some ice). Tea and coffee and kettle which was replenished daily. I loved the painted Wicker furniture. There were two comfy chairs on the balcony which looked out over the gardens. The shower was huge and very good. There were beach towels and a beach bag (on loan).

The whole hotel is very clean and tastefully decorated. All the staff are so friendly and attentive- during the whole time we found all staff the same.

The bar staff were all amazing, the cocktails flowed. The wines were perfectly nice, better than I would have expected for AI and included a French sparkling wine.

All of the food was delicious and plentiful. With sushi at umi (tip ask for more than one starter or main as the portions were a little small) steak at sizzle. Reef included breakfast lunch and dinner (and afternoon tea) and the beach bar Collins served food from 12-6 burgers and the like.

There was a pub which opened at 21.30 which also served snacks but we never made it there. We also didn't sample most of the entertainment except the beach cinema which was amazing- so romantic. The yoga is plentiful, I only went to one session but it was on every day and catered for all levels. The gym was very well equipped as well (good intentions to use didn't happen).

Jason took us on a walking tour which was free and excellent to the local unesco world heritage site of beauty. He also ran the watersports. They have kayaks, stand up paddleboards, boogy boards, snorkels etc. Included in the price and excellent.

Sugar bay the beach is beautiful and a secluded cove, beach shoes are useful but not essential.

I cannot compliment this place more. We had a brilliant holiday. No problems with anything. If you fancy a trip to the Caribbean to escape the winter drag take a trip to Sugar bay.

We book this hotel because of the location. We weren't disappointed. Great beach, easy to get out and about. No road noise in the rooms.

The rooms are very nice, comfy beds, marshmellow pillows! Newly fitted bathrooms. A bit of trouble with the drains, this is probably, hopefully, teething troubles. Clean towels daily. No plug next to the mirror in the bedroom though :(

The all inclusive was very good. Freshly cook eggs at breakfast. You need to ask for poached eggs, though no-one tells you this. Lunch is great in Colin's Beach bar, freshly cook, good menu each day. Lunch in the Reef bar is good, salad bar, small selection of other freshly cook food. Evening meal is good, small selection but i think this keeps it to a good standard and never had a cold food. Sizzler is very good. Book in early you may get in twice.

The bar - few problems here, not enough seating, this makes the bar very congested, hopefully Sugar Bay Management will listen to people and provide a seating area. The drinks were great, the bar staff excellent, ask for any cocktail they will turn up trumps.

The staff at Sugar Bay are great, the beach lads, the bar and restaurant staff, thank you for a great holiday.

Room Tip: Near beach, all good.

We got married on 23.1.16 and it was absolutely perfect!
It was a very romantic and personalized beach wedding. The flower arch was nestled between two palms overlooking the turquoise sea on warm white sand and a soft beautiful sunset.
Logistics was spot on so the ceremony was going at a good pace without any delay.
The photographer (Mr. Hinds) was very professional, enthusiastic and eager to help in order to make every shot look prefect.
Later, we were treated with an intimate dinner in the Sugarbay resort (Umi) surrounded by friendly staff who made sure we received VIP treatment.
Big thanks to the Best Man, Patrick who was always there when we needed him. :D
Last but not least, we would like to thank our amazing coordinator (who wishes to remain anonymous, but we all know who you are, K ;)) for making our dream wedding come true.
She made sure everything went smoothly, from obtaining the marriage license, all the way to the tiniest decoration details.

Thank you all for making our special day truly special, much appreciated!

All in all it was an unforgettable experience and we would warmly recommend it to anyone who desires the perfect, romantic and unique tropical wedding. Rest assured you are in good hands! :)

We have just got back from a fabulous week at Sugar Bay in Barbados. We travelled as a family of 6 and arrived on the 15/01. Check in was very simple and we were greeted with a rum punch each, great way to start the holiday! All of our rooms were ready and the bus boy took our cases to our room. We stayed in room 358 which was a large room with balcony. The only complaint with the room was we had no safe. We were closest to the chattel plaza where the sizzle restaurant and lazy mongoose is based, because of this we expected the room to be noisy but we never heard a thing. The rooms are decorated in a very shabby chic style with bright colours.

We ate in the reef for breakfast everyday which had a wide choice and was always an excellent standard and very delicious! A live cooking station cooking a variety of egg dishes and a selection of hot and cold foods including pastries and cakes. The banana bread is delicious!
Lunchtime we always ate in colins beach bar, you order from the menu and it is then cooked fresh and bought to your table. Again the food was excellent. Me and my partner both commented it was the best burger we have had! Also try the macoroni pie!
Of an evening we dined in the reef restaurant again. Again food was excellent and delicious! This isn't your normal fill your face buffet, there is limited choice. The buffet normally consisted of a roasted meat being carved for you, vegatables, potatoes and a fish or chicken dish. Puddings again a choice of two or three, but excellent again! It's quality not quantity! Drinks are served at your table. We did dine in the sizzle restaurant one night and the food was excellent again! (Can you notice a pattern here!) The pudding choice was very good! And the steaks were cooked very well. one of our groups steak was a little under done and the chef cooked a brand new plate of food without us kicking up a fuss. Nothing was too much.

The bars both colins and reef bars serve branded alcohol and soft drinks. They are easy to get served at and if you have to wait a little while don't worry they won't run out! We recommend lemon and lime daquiri and the special fruit punch! :)

THE BEACH omg! It's fabulous! The best beach we have been to in the Caribbean! Soft white sand and crystal clear sea! Snorkelling is fantastic! Be patient at first you don't see much but venture out to the rocks and swim along the beach and you will see soo much! Head towards the right hand side rocks in line with the breakers and there is an abandoned fishing basket full of gorgeous coloured fish! I would recommend beach shoes if snorkelling a lot of coral and a fair few urchins!
Always easy to get beds on the beach and the watersport guys will put umberellas in for you just pop up to the hut and ask. be patient tho they have a lot of brollys to put in, they will get to you! We took the paddleboard and canoes out for free and you can hire snorkelling equipment as well.

Only went in the pool once, carnt really see the point when you have such a fab beach right in front of you! However the pool was lovely with a bar and was cleaned every morning.

We went into bridgetown in a taxi for 5 BBD each which was nice and we also got the bus (what an experience!) To paynes bay which is up past the cliff restaurant and near Sandy lane. we swam with turtles here just of the shore and it was one of the best things we have ever done!!

I have always said there are too many places in the world to go somewhere twice but I would happily go back here! Might book for October!

Please be aware the hotel is newly refurbed and you do see little bits of work going on but it doesn't impact any of your holiday!

We arrived here one the 15th January for a week and loved every minute of it. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotels decorations are really nice and modern. The rooms are big and the bed is so comfy. The pillows are like marshmallows lol. The food is really nice, fresh and tasty. There's a buffet restaurant called 'The reef' where you can eat breakfast, dinner and tea. Theres a beach bar called 'Colins' where you can eat dinner including: burgers, wraps, fish and flavoured chicken. Theres two a la carte restaurants, a Japanese and a steak restaurant called 'sizzle' we only ate at the sizzle but it was really nice. Theres a coffee shop called 'The bean' where you can go, but you need to pay in there. Theres a few water sports you can get involved in, including kayaks and paddle boarding. Theres a pool in the hotel which is available until 10pm, and a beach located on the hotel, where we spent most of our holiday. The weather was really hot but on the beach there was a little breeze which was nice. As soon as you sit down on the beach, the staff ask if you want an umbrella putting up, which is fetched back from you around 4:30pm. Always nice to have a little shade every now and again. Theres a gift shop on site located near reception. The staff can't do enough for you and there's a wide variety of drinks to choose from. It was my first time in Barbados and it definitely won't be my last!
