Very good relaxing trip at Pefki Island Resort

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Jun 2016
Lots of good reviews on TripAdvisor assisted our choice and we were not disappointed.

Comfortable room, basic but absolutely spotless & kept so by the maids throughout the trip. We were overlooking the pool in a two bed apartment (G225). Never any problem getting a sunbed around the pools although we frequented the Islands Blue pool for the majority of the trip.

The pool bar @ IBH was quick service with good meals. Thank you Romana & the gentleman who worked with her (apologies for not actually writing down his name!!) both really hard working. Supermarket has a good selection, so we alternated between lunch at the pool and lunch in the apartment. Breakfast we had in the hotel, was a little repetitive, it would have been nice to have different fruits & pastries available for example fresh fruits were always water melon, peaches and pineapple. Evenings we ate out; more later on the restaurants.

We didn't have the air con as we didn't need most of the time, the weather was really nice though, a pleasant heat with lots of sun, although the last day/night was sweltering and it would have been good to have it then, so in high summer with high temperatures its probably a must. Free wifi - we never had a problem logging on around the whole complex. Safe hire was 25 Euros for the week.

Beach was lovely not very wide but you were looking at a crystal blue sea where you could easily see the fish swimming by.

Saw a couple of nights entertainment @ hotel - a tribute act to the Drifters, the advert said; but it was really lots of Motown numbers & was very good & a tribute Il Divo also good.

Five minute leisurely walk to the "strip" lots of bars and restaurants, a few additional supermarkets too.

Eating wise we ate out every night visiting Nostalgia, Enigma twice (our favourite), Artemis, Philosophia & an evening in Lindos @ Acropolis Restaurant. All the food was a very good standard, bills were probably a little higher than I expected but I think that maybe the result of some of the Greek economic woes and austerity measures. However let that not take away from the quality of the food & service all were first class. Enigma was the best food and service, the chef even checked we enjoyed our dinner. Philosophia probably had the best setting above the beach close by the hotel.

We enjoyed Eclipse & Palm Cocktail Bars for some freshly made cocktails with our two adult daughters after dinner. Followed by a late night Crepe to finish the night off.

A couple of negatives firstly mosquitoes if they like you, you will get bitten with or without dousing yourself in some repellent but do take some, my wife did get quite a few bites on her legs and feet!! Plus a few wasps around whilst you are eating but that's eating Al fresco for you.....

Rhodes Airport!!! you queue to queue, took ages to check in coming home, even though we had done it online anyway and then once checked in you then join another queue to pass over your luggage but be careful and check which desk you are sent to for luggage drop, we were sent to the wrong one twice and if we hadn't have asked, we think our luggage could have gone to Krakow with all the others in the same queue.

Positives, Very chilled atmosphere at Pefki island Resort, everybody very helpful, lovely also to see a busy hotel take 10 seconds to say yes to a late check out request which they ask you to request 24 hours before you are due to leave, they say they get their maids to do a double shift on Saturdays to cover that as its a big change over day, been at lots of hotels supposedly higher star rating who could learn a lot from Pefki's approach, made our last day very relaxing too as we had a late night flight.

Also the girls used the Zen Spa for their manicures and were very happy too.

Overall a very relaxing week in very comfortable surroundings, good service by all involved @ Pefki, thank you, we would definitely recommend and we will definitely be returning again

I stayed at the Pefki Islands Resort for one week at the start of June 2016. I had great expectations of the place based on the reviews but was slightly disappointed overall.

Given the amount that we paid we were very disappointed with how basic the rooms were. The bed, although large, was very uncomfortable and the pillows were a disgrace. They were so lumpy it felt like the actual pillow had broken into several pieces. I didn't manage to get a decent nights sleep the whole time I was there. Bathroom, bedroom & kitchenette are in desperate need of modernisation. The room itself was clean - maids come in every day except Sunday. You have to pay extra for the air con (65 euro per week) and the safe was (45 euro if I remember correctly) which I thought was very expensive! We stay in room 133 which is an underground room. Our 'balcony' can be overseen by people looking down when they pass on the way to supermarket/each etc. This meant that we had to keep our curtains closed the whole time should we have needed any privacy.

The pool area was nice with plenty of sun loungers available no matter what time you surfaced in the morning. The pool are was also nice and clean and the food at the pool bar was great value for money.

There is a supermarket on site with lots of food and drink options if you wanted to stock up your fridge and eat in. I did find it a little expensive though.

There is 'free wifi' at the only place I could actually pick it up was in the reception and the pool area.

On a plus side the resort is a stones throw from the beach and aprox 10-15 minute walk from the main 'strip' where there are lots of nice restaurants and bars.

We stayed at Pefki Islands for a week at the beginning of June. Our room was very clean, lovely comfy king size bed. It was our 2nd visit to Pefkos having stayed at Lindia Thalassa last year. I would recommend both hotels. Perfect for a relaxing holiday, and so easy to walk into Pefkos where there are plenty of good quality restaurants and bars to choose from.

No need to repeat what has already been said about this hotel. It is very good.

The hotel is one of three on the complex, the others being Island Blue and Lindia Thalassa. The residents can use all of the facilities across the complex. Lindia Thalassa has the best pool for children, as it is shallower and there is a child's play area along side the pool. This is also where the kids club is run from there. Saying that all of the pools are great for kids.

All of the pools have access to a bar. Of the five pools three have a swim up facility.

Some useful info:

You have to pay for air con in Pefki Islands. The cost is 65 euros for a week. In the two bedroom apartments this rises to 119euros for the two rooms. However, it is effective if you leave the doors open between the two rooms, you may only need one. During the summer you will need air con.

The on site supermarket is well stocked and reasonably priced, given the fact it is convenient. Some things are a little more expensive that out of the hotel, but not massively. A six pack of 1.5ltr water is 2 euros. Outside you may get it for 1.90.

The Greek night is great fun. The cost is 19 euros for adults, 10 euros for 10-18yr olds and free fro under 10's. The buffet is excellent and you can eat as much as you like. The buffet is split into two sessions, with the usual mains first and then after a little entertainment the dessert buffet is opened.

Each room has a safe and the cost for a week is 25euros.

We were on a B&B basis and breakfast is very good. It has plenty of choice with all of the usual combinations. It is served in Elia restaurant for the entire complex. We did not have an evening meal there as there are many options in Pefkos itself. As for dinning out there is a new 'agreement' between bars and restaurants of not competing against each other. As a result the prices are fairly similar across them all. The difference being the quality and ambience of each restaurant. The average price of a large beer is about 3.4 euros, cocktails anywhere between 5.5 and 7 euros. There are also plenty of happy hours scattered across the resort. There has been two increases in taxes by the Greek government this year so far. It would not be surprising if there are more. This has had the inevitable knock on effect across the board. Their VAT equivalent is now 24%.

A big thank you to all of the staff at the hotel for making our stay so enjoyable.

All of the staff work tirelessly and bring the usual high level of Greek hospitality to your holiday. Kostas - 'Jessica' says 'Hello'!

You will not be disappointed with the hotel. If you are then there must be some very serious issues...................!

We were a party of twelve and had a brilliant time at Pefki Islands. Would we go back - without hesitation!

We stayed at Pefki Island Resort in the last week of May and absolutely loved it. The resort was extremely clean with very well kept gardens and 5 lovely pools. The bedrooms were quite basic but very clean, spacious - we had a king size bed - and comfortable with everything you needed. We had a kitchenette and enjoyed eating our breakfast on the balcony. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and there was a very nice happy vibe about the whole complex. Who ever owns/manages the complex have obviously put a lot of thought into making their guests stay a very pleasant one. We found the resort very peaceful and relaxing and spent most of our time on the lovely clean beach with crystal clear water ( even in May the temperature of the sea was just perfect ). We don't have children and I was a little worried about staying in a family resort but it wasn't a problem as they were all very well behaved and were having a lovely time. We didn't use the pools as we loved spending the day on the gorgeous beach ( sun bed and umbrella 5 euros ) and watching the sun go down. The charming historical town of Lindos is just minutes away on the bus ( bus stop just outside the complex and very cheap, regular and reliable ) and Rhodes Town ( one hour by bus ) are both must visit places.
We also spent one night on Symi Island which was about one and a half hours on a boat from Rhodes town - it was AMAZING and we would definitely recommend a visit ( you can also do a day trip).
With regards to eating we fell in love with a restaurant called 'Philosophia' which was on the cliff top a couple of minutes walk from the resort. The views are amazing, food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly. We ate there several times and loved every meal. There were also some restaurants ( that also did take aways that you could take to the beach ) on the edge of the resort and also a well stocked supermarket.
We hope to return to Rhodes as we loved the island and if we do I would definitely want to stay in the same resort as it was amazing and a great base for visiting the rest of the island.

Room tip: Take some mosquito repellent if you are out in the evenings. Eat in 'Philosophia' restaurant.
