This hotel faces directly on to the attractive beach . The breakfasts are excellent , if on the expensive side . We had dinner 3 times - the first two were very good , but the third was terrible - delicious starters , then a long , long wait for the main courses , which were mostly tough . We wondered if it was the chef's day off .
The other thing is be careful when you are booking . We had verification of our booking from the hotel , but they had no record of it , and said it should have been confirmation .

Room Tip: Ask for a terrace .

Clean and functional the Mona Lisa has spacious public rooms (restaurant and lounge). The rooms, on the other hand, are a little cramped to the extent that we couldn’t open one of the wardrobe doors fully as it fouled the bedside table. But that’s a small quibble. Everything was clean; the bedroom was comfortable with all the usual accoutrements including a fridge. The bathroom was relatively recently refurbished and was quite roomy. Plenty of hot water and a nice bath and shower. Breakfast was standard fare and a reasonable but not extensive selection. It was in plentiful supply and was enough to keep us going most of the day. We had dinner once as we were too tired to venture out. Although well-cooked and appetising the main course was poorly presented and there was an air of amateurism about the whole affair. That extended, to a degree, to the staff in general. Some were friendly and warm (the lass who tidied the room was just lovely) whilst others aloof and distant (almost a bit zoned-out), matching the hotel’s rather austere facade. The hotel is well positioned adjacent to the beach and has good views (at least from those rooms with a view). It’s a good spot to venture further afield from with Quimper and Concarneau close by. Cap Coz is not a bustling resort and has an air of retirement community and /or summer holiday homes. It has few amenities but that does make for a quiet and restful time. Eating out, if you don’t want to use the hotel or drive, is limited to a handful of places. We found the Hotel de la Pointe to be a little overpriced and the Hotel Belle Vue was closed during our stay. The best of the others was la Corisco, about 100 yards from the hotel and on the beach. Good food, well cooked and presented and a reasonable price (23 Euros for 3 courses). And they did some excellent bread.

The Mona Lisa is in Cap Coz and this is an excellent location. It is right on the beach, you just walk down a few steps from the terrace and you are on sand. The rooms are OK, some even include a fridge which is hard to locate inside a cupboard and you then have to find a socket for the plug. Some rooms have the WC separate from the bathroom, this is typical French, but a lot of us find this unhygienic and inconvenient.

I would highly rate this hotel, but do not dine there ! They treat tour customers as very much second best as regards breakfast and evening meals, but I understand that even their breakfast and lunch / evening meals are pretty 3rd rate. In our case they even served some roast beef which was full of grizzle and was almost inedible, why would any French hotel serve roast beef of such poor quality to a party of English ?

The hotel is perfectly positioned overlooking a beautiful bay. The rooms are small but adequate but you must pay for a sea view to enjoy your stay. Breakfast was good and plentiful but avoid the restaurant for dinner as although it is idyllically placed the food is very mediocre. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The hotel does cater for coach parties of English pensioners.

This is a perfect hotel for an 'end of the summer' break--a fairly short drive through the stunning Brittany countryside to the peninsula of Cap Coz just south of Quimper. The Mona Lisa is a modern and welcoming hotel fronting directly onto a beautiful white beach with views across to Concarneau in one direction and the little port of Beg Meil in the other. Nearly all the other guests were French which ensured that the quality of the restaurant was superb and prices reasonable. We were pleased to have paid 10 euros a night extra for a balcony room fully equipped with table, chairs and loungers, a perfect place to sip wine and admire the beautiful views. We drove into the pretty village of Fouesnant for breakfast thinking that 11 euros was too much at the hotel but soon discovered that the current exchange rate results in these high prices everywhere, a small downside to our otherwise lovely and relaxing trip.
