Our third stay at this hotel ( maybe our 20th holiday in Kos Town ).
Appreciating "ideal" accommodation comes in many different guises for travellers, and therefore all Trip Advisor reviews being subjective, the Philippion provides us with all we need.
Clean, comfortable and located within minutes walk of beaches, restaurants, bars, shops, buses and the town centre. The rooms are decently equipped, bathrooms generally have the added bonus of a shower cubicle.
One criticism - I hope the mattresses are replaced at the end of the season - they have definitely seen better days!
This is a budget hotel, but deserving of a 5 star review.

On a good note first ..Kos is beautiful we will be returning but NOT to this hotel.
Location is fantastic so close to the beach and main area for shops and fantastic restaurants.
Our room was nothing like any of the pics shabby and out of date, the so called air con was shocking a fan would have done a better job. Very small bathroom which was the same size as the guest toilets. We had 2 days no hot water. The most expensive safe we have ever paid for on our travels €25 a week we were there for 2 and the smallest no room for electronics or cameras Cleaners were in everyday which was good but never did the balcony once and did leave our door open one day thought we had been burgled but luckily we hadn't. There were 4 of us sharing a self catering apartment we was given 2 chairs for the balcony we did ask for more but was told to use the only chair we had for the dinning room and the dressing table chair which u can imagine not comfortable to sit out side and do some reading on. We did have a lovely big balcony so a couple of the spare ( always stacked up not used) sun beds would have been good.
The pool even though was clean was dreadful. Far too small only 33 sun loungers which were all touching if your neighbour put the brolly up and you want the sun " tough luck" if you are liking your sun hit the beach. you are so close to the pool and staff are not bothered what happens in the pool after being constantly hit by a ball there was no relaxing to be had . Also dangerous as there is virtually no walkway around the pool and with all the water from the pool so you have to be careful with luggage as it's a tight squeeze between pool and sun lounger and tricky walking with drinks. luckily down the road there is lovely friendly places on the beach (Theodorou beach) were the service and staff are lovely unlike this hotel staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. In all my years of traveling Iv never left a bad review.
Again Kos is beautiful and a delight staff at the restaurants and beach areas are so friendly. The food is amazing.

The location was great for me and my boyfriend, close to the city/restaurants and the beaches, but without disturbing noise.
We had an one room apartment room. Perfect size for us two. (bonus: free AC!)
We had the breakfast at the hotel, it was good. The coffee could have been better but overall fresh food.
We never hung out at the pool since it was quite small and a lot of screaming kids.. so I recommend the beach "Lambi", about 1,5 km from the hotell but it was the best service, free sun beds etc..
All the personal was super friendly and easy going!
The only minus was that the towels and beddings never got change during our stay (1w) and the pillows was not very comfy..

We have just returned after a wonderful 2 week stay at the Phillipion, we travelled as a family of 4 with 2 teenagers.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist, our apartment was larger than expected with a lovely sea front view with a huge balcony, the apartment had everything you needed including an iron, hairdryer and all kitchen utensils.
We had maid service every day, bedding and towels changed every 2 days.
The Air con was great with temperatures reaching 40 degrees every day it was lovely to relax in the room and cool down.
The pool area was well maintained and the bar staff were more than helpful, with an added touch of providing free slush drinks every day.
We ate in the restaurant on a couple of occasions for breakfast and an evening meal, both were lovely.
All staff and manager were friendly and extremely helpful.
The location of the apartments were ideal, only 5 min walk into Kos town, if you didn't want to go into the town there was also a lot of choice of great restaurants within close vicinity of the apartment.

I can't fault the Phillipion and would return again

Such a lovely hotel, I agree with some reviews that' it's not perfect but who could tell what would happen during our stay. Room was good and clean, awesome view of the Aegean Sea.
Relaxed and enjoying the Greek hospitality then BANG.
It's a word that I never thought I would write about on trip advisor. Earthquake!!!
Wow it's a life changing moment but this hotel took all of its power and barely blinked.
Our room bounced as did we, scary stuff and a nightmare.
The night was long and many afterhshocks were horrible, the hotel staff provided blankets and water.
The hotel was the only one on the street to maintain power, a testament to its builders.
A Huge thank you to Ellen the receptionist she was truly amazing and so calm, she took control and kept her head. I hope she gets a big bonus for keeping 150 guest calm.
Kos is a beautiful island and this hotel is great.
Don't let the media reviews put you off it was an act of god and Greece is on an active plate line as are many popular holiday destinations.
This could happen anywhere at anytime.
Loved our week and would go back anytime.
