An average hotel belong to Swosti group of hotels co located with Hotel Mayfair. The surrounding is not very clean & hotel is discharging its own drainage water to an adjacent plot. A lot of mosquitoes in the room are found.

I was given Room no. 211, is spacious but toilet is relatively smaller. Bed was comfortable with clean linen. Main door lock was found defective & it was a herculean task either to lock or unlock with its key. Hotel of this stature hesitate to replace the lock. Toilet fixtures were also defective & the commode was found broken repaired with white cement in the base. Bath room towels were clean & adequate.

Food was delicious. However, complimentary break fast was found average.

Overall an average hotel needs improvement.

This property belongs to Tata Steel and the same has been converted to a hotel and it has 30 rooms and a restaurant, none of the rooms are sea facing. Food served in the restaurant is good and Chinese food is good, try spinach mushroom pan rools.

Swosti is not exactly on the sea, but f very short distance away. The hotel is good. Convenient. Good food. Friendly staff. Unfortunately we stayed here at the wrong time. There was a beach festival which drew huge crowds. It was noisy, and in the evening traffic was terrible.
It is a good lesson for all of us to for any such festivals when booking hotels in India.

The experience was pleasant, homely, nice. The staff led by Manager Pratap Jena were all kind and friendly, the property is a good one, plenty of plants and green, undulating sand dunes around.

On the downside the food is overpriced though the restaurant staff are again, very friendly. There is a nice human touch which will ask you to come back again. The pace is laid back, the house could have one or two fresh paint coats for a more attractive look. The sea view majorly missing, but that's not within the control of the management until they have some extension towards the beach.

My first impression was that of having entered a hospital! We had booked the suite - it did have large rooms. However, there is nothing to do at Gopalpur except for the beach. And the resort did not have any indoor games except for a billiards table in poor condition and with broken furniture around it. There is no TT table nor a carom board. It is not a beach facing hotel - the beach is 5 minutes walk.

The staff at the counter have no information on Gopalpur or nearby places. They were acting as if it was a punishment posting for them. The housekeeping was also bad - we had to walk down to collect anything we wanted.

There is a lighthouse 5 minutes away but the staff had no information on it's timing. But they assured us that we can go up and have a view. When we went to the lighthouse, we were informed that it was closed for visitors 3 years back.

Since there are no other options for food, the hotel had raised the prices. However, the dinner was good. They had pathetic options for breakfast. Suggest you go early before the food gets over. The fruit juice was over by 8:45 am. And the table cloth had food stains from how many days.....

Room Tip: Opt for suite since these are decent sized
