Its a beautiful place. The place was covered in snow when we went in early March. It also snowed for about 20-30 minutes while we were there. Try to avoid the pony rides, but rather rent car from Pahalgam to visit both Aru valley and Chandanwari

Visited Aru valley during March end.
The road to Aru valley ,at certain places was really narrow and there were no barriers.
A little dangerous. But generally, the drivers are experienced enough to drive safely .
Aru valley itself was pleasant in March end.
Kind of like a big green meadow ,with a view of snow-capped peaks in the distance.Didn't opt for the pony ride.
We took a cab for both Aru valley and Betaab valley at 1500 bucks.
There are standard rates depending on which places you want to visit.Ask for the rate card at the hotel, definitely,to avoid bargaining with the driver.

Aru valley was ok in March end.I do think it may be more beautiful and worth visiting after May.

Visited in last week of March 18. It was bright sunshine and the valley looked even more beautiful, the snow on the hills was melting and made a wall paper picture. Hired ponies after a long negotiation (started from Rs 1200 per pony to Rs 300 per pony), you need to negotiate hard as the locals tend to emotionally play with you. Checked 4 spots including the one which was featured in the last scene of Bajrangi Bhaijan movie (where munni runs to meet her mom). Also saw the bungalow which was used as Dilip Kumar's residence in movie Karma. The pony ride was bit difficult due to the terrains and we dropped the ponies mid way and started walking as it bright and good weather. All in all a good place to visit.

We went on valley on horseback the track was very scary but we enjoyed it. The scene was very good and on the top also it was very beautiful as it was snowing on the higher altitude.
