Pahalgam is very beautiful and a must visit during your Kashmir travel. Chandanwari Snow Location is not to be missed in any case. Amarnath Yatra Route has to be seen - a must must !! Further, stay at the Heevan Chain of Hotels is a must recommendation. I had a fantastic experience at Heevan Pahalgam as well as all the Heevan Hotels across Kashmir (Srinagar and Gulmarg as well). They have a chain of Tours and Travels and provide you their own vehicle. There service was the best and specific mention of Arbeena madam (our single point of contact) on supporting for our entire travel coordination from start to end in Kashmir.

Unlike Aru valley, this place is more scenic. It had a stream flowing by and pine trees on the slope all covered in snow. It was just mesmerizing.

Our first encounter of snow in the Kashmir trip was at Chandanwari. Visited in last week of March. The sight of snow was too mesmerizing. The snow here is a bit powdery and would sink in with our weights. Thankfully we had the gum boots (which we took on rent after hard bargaining from 500 rs per pair to 100 rs per pair). The locals used to pester for the entire set of jacket and gumboots for Rs 1500 per person. It was fun playing in the snow.
There is a loot in the area. There are charges Rs 100/- for helping to cross the stream to reach the snow, sticks worth Rs 20 for using as support while going through the snow, sled rides for Rs 1500 etc. One has to be very careful when opting for such things. Hard bargaining is a must, one must start with almost 50% less price than what quoted by locals.

If you visit Pahalgam in the winter season, this is the best place to get some snowfall. Sledging at this place is a very good experience.
