We throughly enjoyed our stay at Finca Sonrisa. We were in Spain for a friend's wedding and staying at Finca Sonrisa made it even more enjoyable. Joan is a fantastic host and made us feel at home, she is warm, helpful and beyond friendly. We will definitely be back soon x

Just back from a fantastic week at Finca Sonrisa. Beautiful house in a very picturesque and peaceful setting. We stayed in Apartment Rojo - spotless with bedroom and a living area with tv and kitchenette area. Good wifi. The house facilities are super. Gorgeous swimming pool and terrace with both sun and shade options. Breakfasts were delicious - a communal dining area so interesting and fun mealtime. Joan, the owner, is the perfect host. She is so welcoming, gracious and professional - always willing to make recommendations and she booked some great places to eat for us whole we were there. Would recommend wholeheartedly. Very good masseuse available there also.

Finca Sonrisa is the best place to stay..... That simple! The place is very luxereous and very relaxing. Nearby you'll find great restaurants, golf resorts and everything you will need. Only 20 minutes from malaga airport. We have stayed here for the second time here and we are planning our next visit as we speak! Absolutely love this place!!!!

This is a remarkable establishment set back in the hills between Alhaurins el Grande and de la Torre, and just an easy 45 minutes drive from Malaga Airport.

It needs a bit of concentration to find the Finca, so it's necessary to keep a sharp eye for the scuzzy bins by the main road which identify the spot to turn. Not as bad as it seems; just look to the hillside, and the attractive yellow house way up the slope is the place itself.

Once through the robust security gate there is plenty of parking, and then it's up the steps into a marvellous garden that's landscaped in the residential area but natural around the perimeter. I'm a bit of a sucker for well-maintained and designed horticultural layouts so it was a daily pleasure to either wander round, or sit amongst, the plants and vegetation. And I especially liked the large pond with an army of very vocal frogs who were happy to perform both athletically and verbally.

We stayed in the Casita, a small private bungalow just a few yards from the large main building. Only three rooms; an ample kitchenette(with all supporting paraphernalia) cum lounge area , a small bedroom with tons of cupboard and hanger space, and a capacious modern bathroom featuring a wall-length shower with enough room to walk around in. Everything was spotless and looked practically brand new. Plenty of natural light through the modern glazing, with efficient blinds and sturdy window security.

But the Casita's best bit was outside; a wide sun patio with two comfy loungers and mattresses protected by a huge , but mobile, parasol. Many a happy afternoon was spent here relaxing and enjoying the spectacular view.

Other rooms are situated beneath the fantastic main residence, whilst the pristine public area is the other side of the adjacent swimming pool. Breakfast is taken communally, which is always interesting when other nationalities are involved. Dishes are served individually, and there seems to be a daily egg-based special and some very artistic fruit dishes, notwithstanding the usual bread, croissants, meat and cheese options. Coffee is via a jumbo nespresso-type machine supplemented by jugs of frothy milk. This is also the where the huge modern fridge is kept and which is amply stocked with everything you would need to suit honesty bar requirements.

All around the pool are several loungers, parasols and shady areas - there's no fighting over the best spots here; they're all good.

The whole place is owned, and run with great cheer, by a jolly Dutch lady Joan, who, apart from having done a fantastic job, is one of the happiest, most positive and helpful people that you could every wish to meet. A lovely woman who really enjoys engaging with her guests; not always the case in my experience. She's also happy to book nearby restaurants and print off directions for you.

We had a superb week here. Marvellous weather, easy access for host of places to visit, and a really comfortable base to return to each day. And surprisingly economic too.

Heartily recommended; I'm totally confident that you won't be disappointed.
