“Awesome hotel and casino”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2012

This is by far the most beautiful hotel and city i have ever visited. Very nicely done hotel and casino. one should stay in anyone of the venetian in lifetime. The only thing where they can improve is to handle the crowd, i repeat crowd and not guests. people come in large groups to stay in this hotel and there is not much staff in the hotel to handle the rush.

Room Tip: always take rooms which are above 10th level. the view of macau is fabulous from top.

What can I say? The hotel was really grand. The rooms were huge and nicely decorated. Conveniently close to the mall where you can get canal rides and watch the Cirque du Soleil. Since it was such a big place, didn't really get much interaction with staff but I can see why its a premier hotel in Macau.

Stayed for 2 nights in March 2012 in the wonderful & huge Rialto Suites. Loved to be back to Venetian once again though we missed out on the Cirque du Soleil. Venetian is a wonderful but also a very huge place both good and bad. Just be prepared to walk around a lot.
Venetian also has many famous Macau food. Be sure to visit Lord Stow's Bakery for the Portuguese Egg Tarts(MUST VISIT), Tai Lei Loi Kei for the iconic Pork Chop Bun & Koi Kei Pastelaria while you're there.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Ms. Joyce Peng & Nana from the Reservations in making great effort in communicating with me on certain changes that the Cirque du Soleil not being available. Greatly appreciate being informed much earlier.
Would like to thank Linda Dong of the Guest Relations Team for making our anniversary a special one with great welcome in the suite. Both my wife & I appreciate it a lot.

Myself and my Wife stayed here for 4 nights at the back end of March this year, however as it was won as a competition prize here in the UK, this review is written with that in mind. Had we paid to stay here the review would be very different.

Having done our research before travelling, our experience upon arrival at the hotel was not a surprise. We used the free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal and arrived at the west entrance to find it teeming with tourists and Chinese gamblers, as we expected. The check-in process was efficient and the staff were pleasant enough and most spoke good english. Our room on the 14th floor was nice enough if a little gaudy. However, everything was clean, tidy and comfortable and of seemingly good quality. The big selection of tv channels covered most of Europe, Asia and America but nothing for us Brits. However, you don't go on holiday to watch tv...

The view from the room was, unfortunately, not the best as we looked down over the air conditioning units for the hotel, mind you, every day we were there it was foggy so there wasn't much to see anyway.

The whole hotel, on the surface, looks quite spectacular, yet when you start looking closely you soon realise that the marble is in fact plastic, the crystal chandeliers are also plastic, the flashy ceilings are just poor imitations of the real thing.

The 300 shop mall follows a similar theme. It's like a giant stage set. It looks amazing from a distance yet you know that it's been built from a few thousand acres of rainforest and several gallons of Dulux.

The casino is almost mind-blowingly huge and is constantly buzzing no matter what time of day it is. Cigarette smoke hangs thick in the air and, despite signs everywhere threatening fines for smoking indoors, you are never far from a concession selling almost any brand you can think of. Wouldn't want to drive the punters out now, would we?

The breakfast restaurant, Cafe Deco, is again big and flash, and a little gaudy and cheap-looking but the staff again are very attentive and the selection and quality of food is excellent. I think I ate my own bodyweight in smoked salmon over the time we were there...

The selection of restaurants in the mall can range from the traditional, i.e. food served cold and on the bone (not the anglicised 'on the bone' but literally the bones had been cut through revealing marrowbone etc), to probably the best food we have ever eaten. Restaurant 'Fogo Samba' was a real highlight, if a little pricey.

The average clientele were young Chinese and Macanese men in tracksuits and imitation jumpers that were either bussed in from the border or were sightseeing tourists trying their hand at a slot machine or two.

Overall, it was definitely an experience although not somewhere you go for a holiday. We escaped the island to Hong Kong for a couple of days and had one day walking round Macau itself. The city is full of more gaudy monolithic casinos casting shadows over the almost slum-land areas they don't want you to see, whilst the historic monuments hang on by their fingertips from being bulldozed to make way for a bigger money maker.

In essence, we're glad we went but we wouldn't rush back.

Room Tip: Higher rooms escape the cigarette smoke smell but wheelchair access isn't high on the list of pr...

Worst hotel experience I've ever had from check-in to check-out. Bottom line is there are too many people here, and the management and staff are unable to accommodate the needs of the individual traveler. This is an assembly line factory experience. From check in you are forced to check in your bags first then stand in line at another check in counter. Staff is rude and the rooms are just ok. The smell of smoke is everywhere. The water and plumbing in the rooms is poor IE lukewarm water , weak pressure, etc.. The bedsheets smelled like the previous occupant, and the breakfast was absolutely awful. The hotel caters to mainland Chinese gamblers and could care less about family travelers. Crowds of people swarm the lobby. There were even groups of huddled people sitting on the floor aging cards. Much better options are abound. The MGM, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, etc...are all better values.
