“Nice little hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2011

Guia Hotel is about 10 minutes away for the centre. It cost only MOP13 by taxi if you don't want to walk up the hill. They have a hourly shuttle bus to the ferry port but you need to let them know in advance.

The Brillant Lake Chinese Restaurant provides great dim sum and Chinese food. We ate there 3 times and were all good. Price is very reasonable too.

The room is of good size and very clean.

This is a small hotel located close to the base of the Pine Hill in the Macau penisula. It is away from the busy areas of the city, and away from the lights and sounds of casinos. From the hotel, if you have the interest, you can walk up to the Pine Hill and walk around the 1.6km trail around the top of this hill. I enjoyed doing it whenever I can.

The room was small, but clean and well maintained. On top of the hotel was a small roof-top garden. A good place to sit around and read a book. No swimming pool nor a gym, though. There was one restaurant - Chinese only - so if you want a cup of coffee you will need to walk downhill toward the city - a short walk, anyway - where one can find many local, small coffee shops. These are good places for a cheap and yet fulfilling breakfast or afternoon tea.

If you like a quiet location away from the city buzz, this is the hotel for you. Front desk staff were friendly and they can calll a taxi for you (no taxi stand outside of hotel) whenever there is a need. There is also a night club in the basement of the hotel which I did not check out. For people, men in particular, who are into nightlife I suspect this club may have something to offer.

Despite the location and the small rooms, this is one hotel I don't mind coming back to.

Room Tip: Macao is small and you can walk from the hotel to the city center in 15 minutes. Walking back will...

Stayed here for a couple of nights in September. The room was a decent size, clean, comfortable and quiet, with free wi-fi. It was a bit of a walk to the centre - 15 mins uphill on the way back was a bit hard going in the heat but ok. The hotel does a shuttle bus to the border with China which is very handy. We saw the "disco" from the street but there was no sign of any of the patrons in the hotel!

Guia is located away from the center but very close to the lighthouse (which is worth visiting, especially in the mornings for some fresh air, to get some good views of Macau and also exercise!)

Another aspect which is different - there is a huge mirror which you will have to bear with while using the toilet!!!!! . the mirror is on the back of the bathroom door. Felt quite weird.

Other than the issue with the mirror and the charging for water bottles, it is a decent hotel. Good rooms, clean, free wifi,

We did not go to the playmate club at the bottom level. And it was not bothering either as it has a separate entrance (you can go from within the hotel too).

The staff speak some English but many are not proficient in guiding people locally.
The hotel provides a free transfer to the Ferry terminal (not from the Ferry to hotel).

For those who are looking for some local food, take the road going down from the playmate club entrance until you reach the end - take a right - there is a nice place. The lady at the counter spoke English too.We could not find any other place to eat near the hotel other than the hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: try getting one with view of the lighthouse

its not so convenient considering the hotel is located on top of mountain, so u might possible need to take taxi always as its quite tiring to walk up the hill. the plus point are modern hotel, facing the city of macau, and next to the hotel, u can walk up the the hilltop and able to see the whole scenery of macau!
