Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House (free entry) is the 3rd attraction included on the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) sponsored 'An Experiment of Creativity' self-walking tour, which covers the interesting and less visited area around St. Lazarus District in Macau.

The 'An Experiment of Creativity' starts at the Kun Iam Temple on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita before making way to Avenida do Sidonio Pais for a visit to Flora Garden and the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House.

This house is where the important historical figure, Dr. Sun Yat Sen stayed during his time in Macau near the end of the 19th century. The building is architecturally interesting, featuring Neo-classical, Rococo and even Islamic design and features. In addition to the peculiar yet pleasing design of the property, here you will find historical accounts of the life of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, particularly related to his role as the founding father of the Republic of China.

The Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House is open from 10am to 5pm daily (Closed on Tuesdays) and can be comfortably seen in 5-10 minutes if you only fancy a look-see of the property. If you want to visit the museum collection property, best to allow 30-45 minutes of a more complete visit and experience. Then you can make way to the next place to visit as part of the 'An Experiment of Creativity' heritage trail.

Note: Visit the MGTO website page for the 'An Experiment of Creativity' self-guided walk if you want to learn more information about the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House, other attractions on this trail and to download maps of the trail and St. Lazarus area of Macau.

Note: Other attractions included on the 'An Experiment of Creativity' heritage trail include the Kun Iam Temple, Flora Garden, Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, Tap Seac Gallery, Tap Seac Square and St. Lazarus Church.

In March 6, I went to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall with my friends to have a information research since we have a report about him. So, after the lunch in McDonald's, we got on the bus and started to have a short trip. It is my first time to go to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, it is not large but also not small. Dr. Sun Yat Sen is a museum located in São Lázaro, Macau, China where former family members and relatives of Sun Yat-sen, the 'Father of Modern China' used to live. The House bears witness to his short but significant stay in Macau in the early 20th century where Macau serve as the starting point for Dr. Sun's travels around the world; it also act as an important venue in which he conducted revolutionary activities and finally as the ideal place he chose to settle his family in later years. So he is a very famous person in China, everyone should know about him because he had done a lots of significant things to help Chinese in history. After this small trip, I have more knowledge about him and hope that I can go to here very soon to commemorate this important person.

This is a reconstructed house of Dr. Sun Yatsen in Macau (the original was destroyed in a fire). The house and grounds are a museum, and very informative concerning the life and deeds of Dr. Sun Yatsen, and his role in the establishment of the Republic of China.

There is a statue of him in the rather austere courtyard.

Admission is free.

For years, I have been coming to this hallowed place. It was actually a place bought by local people to give the widow of Dr. Sun, our Father of The Nation at least some last comfort.

There are precious collections of the Sun family. Some were things used by him personally.

Visitors should see the sights of the National flags of The Republic of China surrounding his statue.Remember, the nation he founded was push to Taiwan and Macau is now part of the People's Republic of China with a different flag.

This shows that Dr. Sun is a Man of All Seasons. He is a worthy Father of modern China. The flags will not be removed as a gesture of eternal respect.
