We stayed for two nights in this hotel. The hotel opens up to the main road, in the sense that it does not have any boundary wall. So, you will get down from the taxi/shuttle bus right on the main road. From there you have to lift your luggage. Off course you can take the help of the bell boys.
The main USP of this place is location. Other than this, the hotel is very dated. We were accommodated in the sixth floor. The room had strong smell of cigarette. Upon complaining about this, the house keeping staff sprayed room freshener and it was quiet better. But from there on the problems started. The in-room safe was not working and upon complaining about this, the Assistant Manager came to our room and checked the safe with a master key and showed us a sticker stuck on the safe, saying that the safe is not working, after it threw up an error message. What was the point in the Assistant Manager making a visit to our room, when he already knew that the safe was not working?
The luggage rack in the room was filled with a layer of dust, which we could clearly see. The sink tap in the toilet, when turned on, used to flood the entire platform (reason unknown).
There was an empty water bottle lying behind the so called refrigerator( I am sure the bottle is still there). This bottle may be lying behind the refrigerator from many days, indicating the complacency of the house keeping staff. We had stored our drink and yogurt in the so called refrigerator and on feeling that our drink had become warm, the front office laughed at us saying that, the refrigerator was simply a box and it would not cool. The Assistant Manager also had the same answer and suggested us to leave our drink, yogurt and porridge in the kitchen cold storage and pick it up tomorrow. How on earth refrigerator can be considered as a box? Good only should help them. Then, the house keeping staff changed the refrigerator after much insistence from us
.
Wifi was pretty slow and most of the staff was not able to communicate in English. Only plus point to this hotel is its location. It is close to the important historical places of Macau and you can literally walk down to all of them. But, I am afraid there are too many hotels in the vicinity, which are more or less at the same distance from the historical places and I am sure much better than this hotel.

We will certainly not recommend this place.

Beware, the hotel shuttle takes you to the ferry terminal for your ferry and this ferry terminal is not Cotai Ferry terminal.

Went to the restaurant in the first floor for the traditional breakfast of Dim Sam (or yam cha) that is served. "Breakfast" of Dim Sam is served at 13:00 and it was excellent! Of course you have to chose from a long list of items but it helped to go there with a local and the waiter that could speak a bit of Portuguese and English. Really, really advice to try this one!

Room Tip: Did not come for the rooms

My 5th Stay at Sintra Hotel and it was as pleasant as always. Quick check-in, clean room and excellent housekeeping. Love the location and will def return. Only downside is the limited space and slow elevators. But not a real issue when on holidays. Free shuttle bus to COD and Studio City very close by, big advantage.

If you can book earlier is better to take a different place, the location is perfect next to the Lisboa Casino and Hotel and the area is quit good to visit the rest of the atractions but the service specially at the reception is poor. Facilities as the building are quiet old. Cleaning was fantastic. The wi-fi signal is so weak and it work every 5 minutes, completely useless, I had to changed room but didn't work. Nice staff at the breakfast.

Room Tip: In some rooms Wi-Fi doesn't work. I was on 8th and 7th floor

Hotel was in a very good location; close to the historic parts - the Senado Square and St Paul's Ruins; close to restaurants, supermarkets, convenience/beauty stores like Sasa and Mannings, the New Yaohan dept store. If you want to go to the casinos, you can always take the free shuttle COD bus near the Grand emperor hotel which is just across Hotel Sintra. Room size was good, bed was firm and comfy. Overall clean hotel. Of course, the free shuttle to and from the ferry/hotel was a great benefit.

What needs to be improved on would be the frontliners' interaction towards guests. Communication barriers cannot be avoided but should guest not be able to understand right away what hotel staff is trying to say, maybe staff should avoid making unnecessary making facial expressions/gestures that may come off as offending. Also, it is surprising to know that some front desk staff are not well informed about establishments that are surrounding the hotel when asked basic directions and we are sometimes referred to the door man instead. Other than these observations, we had a pleasant stay overall and would still recommend to friends who someday would like to visit the historic places of Macau.
