“Good Food”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

A tourist trap, but the food is OK. Unfriendly servers, but you go there for the food. A bit on the pricey side too.

“Tasty arrogance!”
Reviewed 3 April 2012

A lovely piece of Europe right in the heart of Asia. Good food and cozy atmosphere make Fernando a truly unique place to dine in Macau. Prepare yourself to relax and do not expect waiters to welcome you or smile at you. If possible try to get over the first room, even if they tell you that the other room is full you can insist, walk few steps down the aisle and into a forgiven garden with stoned tables and chairs. Get your name written down and enjoy a fresh Sangria alfresco while waiting for your turn. Along with it you can calm down your hunger with a portion of chorizo and cheese. This is the way you can fully enjoy the whole Fernando experience. Slowly slowly you will get your table inside where the real dinner starts, short menu and busy waiters is all you can get by then. But don't worry the suckling roasted pig, the beef stew, the roasted quails will make you forget all the troubles and after the second jar of sangria the manners won't matter anymore!? If with family you better get there early if you want to avoid the ugliest crowd. Some dishes are truly remarkable while some others just on average. Not for fine diners but for food lovers that want to get a bite of the tipical European arrogance.

“Looks like a dive but food is to die for!”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

This restaurant is towards the bottom of the third Macau island - at Hac Sa beach, Coloane, so it is a little out of the way but the food was delicious. They seem to always be busy so it is best to book ahead before making the trip.

“Well worth the taxi ride - great food, great value”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Unless you're staying in Colane you'll have to take a taxi or a bus. Unless you're living in Macau it's easier to take a taxi there and a bus back. However, do go. Food is served all day, there's no reservations you just turn up and put your name on the list and wait but there's loads of tables and turnover is quite quick, although you don't feel hurried whilst eating. The food is very good quality and typically Portuguese 'peasant' fare (don't take that the wrong way) and excellent value. Their home made bread is delicious. We had a great meal - over ordered as the portions are very large - for 3 people complete with 1 ltr of wine, 1 ltr of bottled water and a couple of soft drinks for about 700 Mataca (GBP£55, US$80).
