we booked this hotel thinking that it looks decent from the pictures provided but we were surprised by it when we were actually there. All the fixture and fitting were old; in our opinion it really needs a make over. the room still has one of these box TV and the reception wasn't good. the hotel lobby and swimming pool look better than the room we stayed in by far. However, if you looking for a king size bed its bed is a good size bed. But, it is not a 4 stars hotel; 3 stars would be more befitting. The breakfast was ok but the staff was rude when i asked for a cup of freshly brewed coffee; she said something in Cantonese like " she really deserve to die for asking for a cup of freshly brewed coffee". so, you see, spend your hard earned money somewhere that really is a 4 star hotel like Galaxy

I stayed at the Regency Hotel Macau with my husband and son. Compared to the newer properties in Macau, the hotel is understated but extremely comfortable with generous sized rooms and bathrooms. The hotel's location is a major plus offering easy access across Macau, Taipa and Coloane. The hotel offers postcard views of the large casinos and hotels across the bridge connecting Taipa and Macau. This is an arresting sight especially late at night. Housekeeping is good as might be expected in a hotel of this type. The swimming pool was under maintenance when we stayed here - which was a bit of a let down since some of the most picturesque areas of the hotel are around the pool. While the website of the hotel suggests an old worldly, gracious property, the hotel is actually a high rise with about a dozen floors. Two things that the hotel could certainly improve on are the communication abilities of their front office personnel and the quality of the food served at their complimentary buffet breakfast.

The best and most cost effective way to commute here is by bus - the hotel has bus stops available right in front of it - pick up information from the online travel forums regarding the bus routes or get the hotel staff to help. Walking tours of Macau (for which directions and maps are easily available online), are absolutely the best way of seeing the multiple attractions of the place.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floors - 8th floor and up. We were on the 10th floor and the views from our room were just terrific!

You won'y expect much for this price. You will not imagine the facilities /services to be compared with Ventican or other Casino hotels. We have got free upgrade from Superior to Delux room. The room don't have sea view but it is a big room, big toliets while the things inside are dated. As mentioned, you won't expected a lot in this hotel, so it is above average in my point of view.
The shuttle : one hour one trip is not a good idea. Plus a Taipa hotel should hv direct shuttle to Taipa pier, but the shuttle is going to the pier in Macau side. If time match, it's a good idea to wait. If not, taking public transport is not a bad idea as it is cheap.

There is a shuttle service to the ferry wharf (I think it is the Taipa ferry wharf). If you take a taxi from Taipa ferry wharf to Regency it costs about $35 MOP. The taxi trip from Regency to the Macau airport costs around the same (although you will be charged extra for luggage). Room is spacious although the bathroom is a bit dated. They gave us an upgrade from standard room to a harbour view room free of charge (so I would not book a harbour view room online as Asian hotels tend to upgrade people automatically in low season). Their tea making facility in the room is a bit hopeless as they only offer Chinese tea. However, they offer two complimentary bottles of water in the room each day. Dinner at restaurant is quite tasty although breakfast is average. Regency itself is not a casino hotel but there are a couple of casino hotels next door. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the biggest casino, the Venetian. Unfortunately Regency does not offer shuttle bus to the Venetian and you will need to take a taxi or bus if you don't want to walk. There is no free Wifi at Regency and you will need to pay a daily rate (about $150 MOP) in order to use the Internet. Alternatively the hotel also has two computer terminals at lobby presumably for timed Internet usage.

We stayed two nights here. We book two different room types-one double bed and one twin beds. They managed to provide us and locate our rooms opposites with each other. The staffs generally are friendly. Hotel bus to jetty is available and is free, it travels to a few spots before stopping at jetty hourly. If you could not wait, a very nearby bus stop is available. We noticed there was always taxi waiting in front of lobby. Within walking distance, there are local food outlets opened even during late night. Room facilities though is old but still clean and most are still functional. Morning buffet breakfast is fine.
