“Lovely Honeymoon”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

My husband and I have just returned from our 10 day stay at the Cordial Mogan Playa. It was a brilliant hotel, very clean and well maintained. The hotel reception staff were lovely and spoke very good English. The room was spacious, clean and had comfy beds. The bathroom was large with a shower over bath, free shower gel (bottle in the shower), a separate toilet. The balcony was nice with good furniture and a nice view over the pool. The room had a combination safe which cost 23 euro for 10 days, it was very easy to use. There was also a fridge in the room which was free to use, which was great for keeping our drinks cool.

The food was good. There was plenty of options for Breakfast with tea and coffee delivered to your table, lovely fresh smoothies and fruit shakes and juices for you to help yourself. The evening buffet was good, lots of options for salads, cold meats, hot meals, meat station, fish station, pasta, pizza etc. We ate out once in our stay, just to have a break from buffet meals. The puddings were amazing, lovely little cakes, mousse, pancakes, chocolate fountains, ice cream, fruit and lots more!

The swimming pool (nearest reception) was lovely. The temperature was just right, and nicer being a salt water pool rather than chlorine. There was always plenty of sun loungers, also you get fresh pool towels everyday, which are nice large towels, you don't really need to bring your own.

The resort is lovely, the harbor area is stunning and very clean, there are some lovely restaurants along here. The beach area is also very clean, there are more restaurants here and also some bars. Our favorite bar had to be Zoo, which is near the harbor, they are so friendly, with good priced drinks and food - we ate here one night and it was a great meal.

On the last night the hotel decorated our table nicely and opened a bottle of champagne on the house, they also made us our own cake for pudding. A very nice touch.

Overall, lovely holiday.

We stayed at the Cordial Mogan Playa in Feb 2011. We stayed half board and as far as buffett/ holiday style food went felt that it was fine, nothing extrordinary but nice enough, and of course the champagne for breakfast was a plus.

The room was comfortable and it was nice to overlook the cactus garden and have a view even though it was over the pool. There was never a problem with sunbeds around the pool and the staff were very attentive, we hired a car and went to palmitos park.

The surrounding area is really very nice and there are many restaurants to try out for lunch in the village.

All in all the hotel had a very relaxed and adult feel to it and I think is unique in the sense that Peurto de mogan is not overwhlmed with hotels on top of one another. I expect we will return when in search of a relaxing winter break

Fourth time staying at the Cordial and it won't be the last. We stayed the week after Easter and the hotel was half full, which was brilliant for us. No queues at the restaurant during evening meal, plenty of sun loungers etc. It was lovely to meet the staff that we have made friends with over the years, with them really remembering us not just pretending to. The staff go out of their way to help you in any way possible. My birthday and our wedding anniversary (on the same day) fell during the holiday and the staff helped to make it the best birthday/anniversary ever. Thank you Carmello for arranging the cake and Jose Manuel and Felix for sorting out the flowers. My husband and I retook our vows in the small chapel in the gardens and arranged to eat in Los Guayres in the evening. During the afternoon we were asked to come to the restaurant to choose the table we wished to sit at for our meal. On arrival at the Los Guayres in the evening we were greeted by Felix who shook our hands and gave his congratulations to us. My flowers were one side of the table and champagne from the hotel on the other. Felix proceeded to chop off the top of the champagne bottle through the glass. The whole meal was magical. We have an 11 year old daughter who wanted to eat something simple not the excellent cuisine of Los Guayres and the chef cooked specially for her. The whole meal passed like a dream and we were made to feel so special. The lights dimmed and a birthday cake was produced with my name on it. After the meal a table had been reserved for us outside the entertainment room with free cocktails and drinks. The whole evening was amazing. We were leaving the hotel the next day and the staff helped me package my flowers to try and get them home on the plane. It worked and they are still beautiful.
I haven't written about the grounds, food etc as everyone else has said it for me. One comment about evening meal is that my daughter would have liked children's food( chicken nuggets, fish fingers) to be available every meal time. We also found the plain pasta to be only warm when kept in the self service area. These are small criticisms when thinking of the whole experience.
We went to a new bar opposite the hotel in the shopping centre Boulavard cafe. It had been open only a week but we loved the place. The cocktails are some of the best we have tasted. They are made individually and take a while but it's worth it. I had a sangia that was full of fruit - strawberries, banana as well as orange and apple. The food is excellent and the staff very helpful.
We walked up the mountain opposite the hotel. It's not that difficult and took us 40 mins stopping to write our names in stones on the top section.Do it earlier in the morning when it's cool. We didn't see many people walking after noon. The views are amazing from the top.
We had a very relaxing holiday and can't wait to return. Thank you Cordial you are a paradise away from every day life a place to chill and recharge the batteries.

We have spent a wonderful week at this fantastic hotel, the staff were happy and helpful, the service was excellent, the food was amazing and the hotel is best described as a small village with beautiful well maintained tropical landscaping, clearly showing plant names, offering two spacious swimming pools, a tennis court, fittness facilities and a pampering spa that give great massages and treatments, we highly recommend all ages if you need a relaxing holiday, this is the place to be.

Room Tip: our room was on the ground floor, initially we thought it could be intrusive from passing guests, bu...

We had a wonderful week at this well run hotel. The hotel itself was impeccably presented, from the rooms themselves, to the restaurant to the beautifully kept gardens. The range of food on offer at the restaurant was great. a carvery which included confit of duck, steak, pork, turkey. or you could have freshly cooked steak or turkey. A fish counter, freshly cooked sole, salmon or swordfish. a lovely fresh salad bar, and various starters, and a huge buffet selection of vegetables, and other main dishes. soup, pasta, and the desserts were also very varied and far too tempting.
the swimming pool was immaculately clean, and the whole garden ambience was wonderful, they even have a little vegetable garden.
there is a rather quaint chapel on site too.
the staff were really friendly and helpful. Sarah, the aqua gym and fitness instructor was really friendly and you never felt pressured into doing any activities.
we had a really relaxing time, which was just what we were after.
the weather was perfect every day, the rain drops on the mountains behind, so you always have a lot of sun each day with a few clouds.
the local resort was very picturesque. an old fishing port, with a harbour full of yachts and little walkways and canals, with hanging bourgainvilla. very pretty. lots of restaurants to choose from. we tried Tobana a tapas place on our last night, authentic canarian tapas, and a knowledgeable owner.
there are some areas which are not yet complete in the resort, but that seems to be the case over most of Spain. there is not a huge amount to do at the resort, so for those wishing to be more active, suggest getting a car and exploring the island.
we walked up and cycled over the unfinished road, which takes you to the next beach along. if you like hills, then do it. If not steer well clear!
overall a great holiday for total relaxation and being well cared for at the lovely hotel.

Room Tip: The suites were just lovely, placed around garden courtyards, or with little gardens themselves. we...
