CGB is Corfus best kept secret, and i am going to let you in on it,but don't tell another soul because then they will all want to go. From the moment you arrive at this hotel you are greeted by Dimitri and Dina and their family as if you were long lost friends. For the duration of your stay they will try to cater for your every whim. Wonderful people. The hotel is in the perfect spot with beautiful views over the bay. The rooms are compact and bijou, but practical and clean, and with air-con that works! No fridges or kettles in the room, but free drinking water available and if you want a cup of tea/coffee first thing then pop down to the breakfast room and take one back to your room.
Lovely swimming pool, no problems getting a sun-lounger,plenty available. Food is very good and cooked English breakfast is available for a extra 4 euros. Hotel entertainment consists of Karioke Night ( you are not forced into singing) , Quiz Night, and greek dancing and Dimitri is also a mean dude DJ.The beach is sand/fine shingle with plenty of loungers/shades available to rent for the day. The sea is crystal clear and great for swimming and the long beach is ideal for walking along and working off those extra calories you may obtain from eating at the various excellent tavernas and restaurants along the sea front such as Blue Heaven, Dixtia, and for a great lunch you must go to Marias Snack Shack run by Maria and Andy (sisters) best greek salad in town.
In all this is a great place for a relaxing holiday. Now last but by no means least is Thomsons best kept secret. Namely, Karen the rep. I have been doing package tours for over 30 years and she is by far the best rep i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Very friendly, will do all she can to ensure you enjoy your holiday, yet very professional. As it says in the song she is simply the best.
So now you know all about Costas Golden Beach Hotel.......but don't tell a soul because i want room there for my family next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room on top floor ( only two levels) for the best views of the bay.

Stayed for 11 nights end Aug early Sept. weather superb, location superb, accommodation superb and Corfu a lovely island. would recommend and re-book. rooms do not have fridges/kettles etc as bookings on a b&b basis but free water and anything asked for is no bother. breakfast basic with plastic crockery but can pay for cooked breakfast if required. a good fun place to go and Karen, Thomson rep probably one of the best we have ever come across. Thomson trips good value for money although Corfu island trip a very long day with more on coach than off coach but if you're not hiring a car a good way to see many sights in just one day.

resort pretty and quiet with a handful of good tavernas and probably the best fish restaurant ever ... The fishermans catch, but if you walk there in the light take a torch as the walk back is long, dark and uneven but equipped appropriately well worth a visit for the food, view and experience.

all in all highly recommended hotel, resort and island. will be returning in 2012 hopefully.

Room Tip: a sea view room a I'd say .... There are about 10 rooms behind the main building with no view and if you like to sit on the balcony you'd be disappointed. some rooms have double beds too which can be requested.

We arrived back last Monday after a fantastic week at the Costas Golden Beach Hotel. We met up with our Sister and Brother in law making us four 50 “somethings” looking for a relaxing quiet holiday. Having read the reviews here we expected a nice hotel with a friendly welcome. What we got was even better than expected. Dimitri, Dina, Anastasia and Spiros greeted us off the bus as though we were long lost family rather than guests. The whole holiday for us was pretty much perfect in a quiet almost sleepy part of Corfu. All the hotel staff made an effort to please throughout the holiday with nothing being too much effort. Even the transfer from the airport for us was direct with only a change to a smaller bus to think about. Door to door took 1Hr 15mins. Travelling back to the airport was even faster - 1 Hour door to door. Discussions with other guests during our stay seemed to indicate that average transfers were about 1 Hour 40 Minutes.

Our rep Karen was also far better than most we have dealt with. She provided a very good outline of facilities etc in resort and didn't try and push any trips particularly. We did go on Theo's boat trip and enjoyed the trip even though transfers to Corfu town were 90 minutes each way.

Back to the hotel though, Dimitri explained as we checked in that there was no charge for the room safe, or air conditioning. Also there was a free water fountain of filtered chilled water for use by all guests all day. All these niceties put icing on the cake for us. The hotel was spotless throughout and rooms were made up each day with fresh towels etc.

Breakfast was continental style and more than adequate with plenty of fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt etc. each day. That said for 4 Euros you could indulge in a "full English" complete with sachets of HP brown sauce.

Our room (223) was fully refurbished earlier this year and the shower in particular was excellent. Again nice touches such as the mosquito net door between inner and outer balcony doors kept the pests at bay at least in the room. Some folk may find the beds a little firm but for me they were perfect and completely comfortable for us.

The pool area and outdoor Jacuzzi were just like the rest of the hotel, clean, well maintained and well used. Although we used different beds each time there were always beds available. Literally 20 yards across the road is a very nice quiet beach. If you want great service with a smile on the beach, cross the road from reception and head just right on the beach for the blue beds owned and run by Michael. Regular customers such as us were greeted daily with a small discount. By the end of the week, 5 Euros secured 2 beds and an umbrella. Added to this Michael is a wealth of great advice from route planning for a day's driving to where to eat etc. My only word of advice would be not to get pulled into buying fruit from the Albanian sellers. 2 minutes walk up the road to Tony's supermarket and you get a kilo of bananas or peaches for the price of a single banana from the beach seller.

Evening entertainment is provided at least 3 times a week in the hotel with the holiday rep Karen leading lively Karaoke and Quiz nights and a professional entertainer for other nights. Food in the restaurant was good and nicely priced. We usually paid between 12 and 15 Euros per head including a drink and the special board was changed each night. A large Mythos was 3 Euros and a Vodka Tonic was 4 (same price in all the tavernas we visited).

We did hire a car for a day to tour the North coast line of Corfu. We saw stunning small coves and scenery around the Eastern coast line especially Agios Stephenos (not the West side town of the same name). 50 Euros including insurance with zero excess secured a fiesta from Dimiti's cousin George. The car lot being under the Bowling bar a couple of hundred yards up the hill from the hotel.

I could write all night, but I think this covers most of the essentials and the other reviews will cover the rest.

So..... Would I recommend the hotel? As Churchill the dog would say....Oh Yes!
This is the best 3 star hotel we have stayed in (and we’ve stayed in quite a few over the years). The difference being that this one has 5 star service. 7 Star if rated like Metaxa Brandy. 8^)
We will almost certainly be back for more.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea View Room if possible.

Arrived back home on the 26th August, wonderful, charming hotel. the food was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and so helpful, the family made you feel like you were the most important people in the world. overlooking the most beautiful cove i have ever seen. our rep was Karen and she couldn't do enough for you, while we were there she gave lifts to several people, over and above the call of duty. Free air con, free water, free safety deposit boxes, the rooms were lovely, we had a view over the pool and looking at the sea. the pictures dont do this place enough justice. Would I go again ?....................... in a heart beat x thank you Dimitre, Dana, Spiros all three of you, and of course the beautiful tassia xxxx

Remote location but just what we wanted. Peace & Quiet with fabulous views. Everything you need is here - and there are plenty of tavernas along the sea front if you want a change from the hotel. Prices are reasonable. The Fishermans restaurant is worth a visit - the very last restaurant on the left of the bay - very romantic setting, sunset is spectacular !
Spent couple of days on the beach which was quiet & uncrowded - even dozed in the afternoons. Sea is beautifully clear - as expected. Popped to the beach taverna & supermarket to purchase cool beer & gyros - had lunch right there on the beach under the brollie :)..... Also had a day at the hotel pool - but my own preference is a beach, which is a couple of steps from the hotel. Never did we have to fight for loungers on either the beach or pool - plenty to go round.
Bus stop right outside hotel so we could get out and about if necessary - take this opportunity to top up cash as there isn't an ATM machine here or locally. Only went on one excusion - Albania, was very interesting in the morning but quite boring in the afternoon - go, but take a book - there isn't much to do after you have been to the Byzantia site.
All round fabulous place and the family running this hotel are so warm & welcoming that you feel as if you already know them - they certainly go out of their way to make your stay FAB.... 10/10 for everything :)
