Great spot, nice large pool (which was pleasantly cool first week of July!), super friendly and helpful staff. We probably had the best room (nr 12), huge, quiet, with a great view, private court yard. Great opportunities for trips, ok restaurants close by (especially Uliveto Grill and the new pizza place in Gaggi).
The menu changes daily at the restaurant, but it's kinda similar (but very good). Wine list is OK, but room for improvement there - since Etna is 'round the corner.
Relaxing

We enjoyed our one night stop here on our walking tour in Sicily. We were made to feel most welcome when we arrived tired and thirsty. The food and local wine was delicious and we would have liked to stay longer!
The surrounding countryside is fantastic for walking or just sitting by the pool looking out over the lush green hills.

Don't be fooled by the advertising, this property looks a lot bigger than it really is. The pool is very small, the parking area small and not very convenient. Most of the rooms are in a "new" block just across from the original building and can be quite noisy as it is designed with rooms off one corridor which is high and echoey. The barbeque area I don't think is ever used and it is not surprising as the wall with a large drop is starting to giveway and the floor is sinking and cracking but you would not us it because of the armies of ants. This needs attention. The store room door around the pool area was in a bad state and the plies of the plywood were peeling away. This also needs attention. Having said that the staff were very polite and helpful and the dinner not quite the best of our tour of Sicily but up there near the top. Quite formal and a very helpful waiter. The breakfast was again not the best but very acceptable. Would use again because of the beautiful view an closeness to local attractions.

My wife and I, on a recommendation from another holidaymaker we met, had dinner here one night whilst we were staying elsewhere in Gaggi. The staff could not have been more friendly and the quality of the food and table wine was simply excellent. This was the best food we found in the Gaggi area.

We were attracted to this place due to the very good online reviews. The place (as such) lived up to our expectations. This is a beautifully renovated old villa located in a very scenic valley near the Etna. The facilities are also quite good, though wi-fi access is far from great.

The main problem we saw was the poor service. This is the type of place that tourist choose because they want to relax, while being able to enjoy a hospitable service. Most of the staff is indeed friendly and try to be helpful, but they cannot deliver on their own. One can easily see that there is no manager coordinating the tasks and gluing together the staff – we eventually came to learn that the place has been lacking a manager for over one year now… they desperately need to hire one!

One special comment goes to their kitchen: we cannot even speak about the cook’s skills, as we didn’t even manage to taste his cooking.

We arrived the first night at 9pm, after a protracted 3-hour drive with 30+ Celsius, and we were immediately approached at the reception with a “You have to sit down right now to eat if you want to have dinner here; the restaurant will close at 9:30pm”… This is Sicily for God’s Sake!!! All restaurants keep serving food after 11pm. Moreover, we expect to receive a little more “goodwill” by the reception of the hotel where we’re spending the following two nights; especially when they see us arrive there so exhausted.

We asked if we could possibly have dinner at 9:30pm so that we have a quick shower. They (reluctantly) went to consult with the cook, who simply sent the message “The maximum I can do is 9:15pm”. Naturally, we resented such unwelcoming, unnecessarily inflexible and impolite behaviour on our arrival day, and refused to eat there. The cook’s behaviour was simply unacceptably unprofessional, no matter how good his cooking might actually be.
All in all, I feel really sorry that such a wonderful place with so much potential is being hurt by such below-par service and hospitality.
