“An absolute delight”

We arrived to the villa later than planned, but had no problems letting Simona know and having her acknowledge this.

We drove from Florence airport, and whilst the drive was easy enough, our GPS sent us 'the hard way' as per the description. It's not impossible to drive up the dirt roads, but if you have a smaller car (Fiat 500 etc) it may be worth coming from Castelfiorentino where the climbing is on sealed roads and isn't an issue at all.

Any worries about the drive were quickly forgotten once we arrived and saw how amazing the villa was. Simona and Cinzia greeted us warmly, and there were no problems at all with the language barrier - between laughing and miming, we not only learnt all we needed to know about the apartment, we even were shown to a pizza place in Castelfiorentino that was still open, and wasn't bad pizza either! This after leaving us a bottle of wine from their vineyards, and a bottle of olive oil - both of which were also very good. There are ample instructions in the house in English should you have any problems.

The villa stays very cool (it was upwards of 30c/95f when we were there), with the bedrooms and beds very, very comfortable. The shutters in the bedrooms are complete blackout shutters, so you're welcome to sleep as long as needed each morning before you go down to the very clean and very big pool overlooking the Tuscan hills.

At the pool there are plenty of pool toys, sun lounges, as well as gazebos with tables and chairs for you to have lunch or dinner whilst by the pool. If you can, the sunset over the distant mountains is something worth seeing. There is also a table tennis table and bocce court which were both a lot of fun. Castelfiorentino has a large Coop supermarket that has all you need and more for your stay. The kitchen facilities at the villa are more than adequate for four to six people, with a large cooktop and oven, as well as a massive stone sink and dishwasher.

In our entire time there, we saw our neighbours once. We spent a day around the pool, but also spent several days exploring Tuscany. The villa is in an ideal place to go on day trips around the region, but you definitely need a car.

The wifi is patchy outside of the lounge room, but if you're here to relax it hardly matters.

Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat.
