Even before an excellent lunch in Lydon’s we said we’d take the kids to The Hungry Monk for some fancy cake (Homemade Jaffa Cake) x2- which was fantastic along with the red wine which accompanied it. A little gem in the village of Cong in which you’ll be lucky to walk in and grab the last table available like we did. Great place

What a lovely little place to stop off and have a nice breakfast with some amazing coffee.
It isn't every place you can get poached eggs . And I know . only well why . But the hungry monk dosen't have a problem having them on there menu.
Because they are more than capable of getting them spot on .
What a beautiful breakfast and start to the day I had when I had the pleasure of visiting cong on st Patrick's day .
I most definitely will be back.
Kind regards Adrian.

Nice friendly cozy atmosphere for a cup of tea or coffee while staying in Ashford/Cong area, very lively and busy while I was there.

A lovely little restaurant with an old world feel.
The cakes are all home made which in itself is a unique treat leaving one with the feeling of what we are missing out of as we tend to buy the mass produced cakes from our local supermarkets that are probably all filled with preservatives. It is only when one visits such a restaurant like the Hungry Monk that reminds us of what we are missing out on.

Our visit was just after a lunch time rush period which left the selection of home cakes minimal but of what we had was absolutely awesome.
The staff were lovely and service was fabulous.

Would I visit it again: YES
Would I recommend it: YES

A must to visit but a pity they are not open 7 days per week all round round as they tend to cater for the busy tourist periods leaving us locals with less of a choice of fine coffee shops.
