Just Returned from another great vacation at the Grand. We are already looking forward to our next Trip to the Grand. There was a lot of good and some bad to this years experience. Our check In went fine, except for the normal delay having the room ready. We have in the past stayed in Ocean Front which we were unable to get due to the rooms being booked. That was fine, we got a room that overlooked the Tranquility pool. I was a little surprised that there was nothing that could be done for us as we have returned to Iberostars 7 times and purchased a total of 12 rooms during that time. We were placed on the first floor, which we seamed to be misplaced and out of touch with the rest of the facility. our first clue was that we were not greeted by the Butler, not offered our Pillow choice, and not given our choice of Liquor in the room as we have enjoyed in all of our previous stays. We finally got to meet our butler 4 days into our trip only after we filled out our survey. It seemed that the service staff has been reduced, this is understandable in this economy.
Food was, as I expected, very good! I had some sort of Lobster and Steak everyday. The steak I had at Surf and Turf was terrible I could not eat it, it had a bad taste to it and was so tuff i couldn't chew it, But my wifes Fillet was great. Buffets were always good we never tired of them. Olivia was there everymorning with a smile and there at lunch for our Ceasar salad, ice cream at the pool and our chef at the gourmet. Star Friends what can you say but they are great, nice to see Eder again.
They need some maintenance to the buildings and the decor. We noticed a lot of damaged pillars, some walls crumbling and pinting required. for a resort only 5 years old the weather has taken its toll. The light sconces at the pool bar need replacement, they are missing some body parts. We love to walk thru the Maya and the Lindo, They really seem to keep this part of the resort up much better. But we always seemed to enjoy returning the the Grand after dodging a few running kids. Overall there was a few issues but not bad enough to find another resort we ant to call our Vacation Home. we will just have to bring our issues to the front desk at check in on our next return trip. Oh and when you go, get the couples Message it was 80 min. of WOW.
Nice touch while we were there, the Dallas Cheerleaders were there shooting for the 2013 bikini calendar,
