We are seasoned travellers and know how different people look for different things on a holiday. We wanted to be able to relax and escape the pressures of day to day living and we definitely chose the right place to do this. All the staff, without exception, were marvellous and couldn't do enough to make our stay a happy one. The bustling town with every type of designer shop and restaurant was only a short walk away (be careful to be vigilant as the traffic can be quite busy on the narrow road), and had a thriving night life. We visited Panormos beach (60 euros for 2 sunbeds for the day!) but chose to spend our time relaxing by the pool or wandering around town and the bars watching the world go by. Isabelle and her wonderful team have got it just right and we were really sorry to leave.

PS - The sunsets were absolutely incredible. :-)

Room Tip: Room 1 on the top floor had lovely sunset views and was quiet.

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights at Apanema and had a great time!

PROS:

• Our room (#6, I believe) was HUGE! The view from the balcony overlooked the pool and the sea.

• The staff was great! Very personable and friendly. Remembered our names and said hello every time they saw us.

• Breakfast was good and the option to take it in your room OR in the "restaurant" by the pool was very nice.

• The location was ideal for us as it was a bit outside of Mykonos Town, so therefore was a bit quieter. My friend and I aren't big partiers, so the vibe of this place was perfect for us. Also, the location made for good sunset viewing.

• We ended up eating dinner at the hotel two of the nights and thought it delicious. It was a very chill place to eat, since only 1 other couple ate in the "restaurant" with us the first night and we dined alone the 2nd night.

• Very easy walking distance from Avis Rental cars, where we got a small auto for the day to explore the island/beaches. Hotel has ample (free) parking.

CONS:

• This has been mentioned in a number of reviews and I can confirm that walking from the hotel to Hora/Mykonos Town is not the most pleasant, given that there is no sidewalk. It's definitely do-able and is only ~10-15mins, but just stay alert as cars and ATVs come whipping around the corners without much warning. Walking to the new port is also do-able (~25ish mins) but I would highly advise against it if you are carrying any luggage.

• It's advised not to drink the water on the islands and the staff makes a point of telling you this, but then the water bottles they provide in the room are available for a fee. Given the price of the hotel, I found that to be a bit strange and it would've been a nicer touch to include water bottles with the room.

• Unfortunately, our shower leaked so the 2nd person to shower each morning had a very wet floor.

OF NOTE:

• This is not really a con, but just to note that the infinity pool is smaller than it appears in photos. (Or at least it felt that way to us.) Not a big deal since it was so windy/chilly to spend much time IN the pool, but just something to be aware of if you'd plan to do a lot of swimming.

• We stayed on Mykonos in August and were unfortunately unaware of the incredible "meltemi" winds that blow through the island this time of year. Apparently Mykonos is quite windy most of the time, but was especially windy while we were there. This made lounging by the pool and/or dining on the patio a bit less enjoyable, or even feasible given that glassware kept blowing over and shattering. So, just a head's up to be aware that it might be incredibly windy so don't be surprised!

• Also, this is very much a boutique hotel. Don't expect a large resort with a lot of amenities. The "restaurant" is tiny (really just a couple of tables on the patio just off the pool) but it is charming and the staff are great. If you want more variety, the town is a 10-15 minute walk way.

• The rooms are up a long flight of stairs, so just keep in mind that there is no elevator if you have mobility issues.

Room Tip: Room #6 (or others on that side of the hotel) looks straight out over the pool/sea and have the best views.

We stayed for 5 nights at Apanema. Staff were very friendly from start to finish. George was a lovely man who helped us with are bags and showed us to the room. We were very impressed with it. We got the room with the infinity pool (Half in half outside). The views of the sea from it were spectacular. Everything was spotless and we were greeted with a bottle of wine and fruit platter-a great touch! We also had our own private entrance and a spacious veranda with sunbeds and a table and chairs for breakfast. Breakfast was great and we decided to get room service each morning and eat in privacy. (You fill a breakfast card in the night before and leave at the restaurant or reception). I cant descibe how much we enjoyed our stay, we could definitely get used to be waited on hand and foot! Staff work very hard. Thanks for everything. We hope to be back one day again.

Room Tip: The room with the infinity pool with own private entrance is the quieter and most private one

We were very disappointed with the room we got at the Apanema Hotel in Mykonos. We booked our room based on the photos on the website, a seaview room with a built-in plunge pool/jetted tub with beautiful ocean view, very romantic looking. This was the whole reason why we booked this hotel. We paid extra for this room. However, when we arrived, the room looked completely different. The unattractive portable jetted tub was placed outside on a deck overlooking the pool and did not look inviting at all. When I inquired about the room we booked on the website, the hotel staff said that it was unavailable and there was only one room in this hotel that looked like that and we were getting the same room category. If you see the photos of the room we booked and the room we got, they were not comparable at all. The manager arrived a couple hours later, she acknowledged our frustration and provided us with an option to move to another property which was much further away. We decided to stay at this hotel since we wanted to be closer to town. The manager provided us with additional amenities to make up for our disappointment. This is a once a life time trip for us and our first impression was ruined. My advice to the hotel management—please be truthful with your photos and don’t mislead your guests. There were no photos on the website showing the unattractive jetted tub as one of the potential options for this room category.

The hotel is within 10-minutes walk to Mykonos town but you have to walk on the side of a very busy traffic highway with no sidewalk. It’s unsafe so just be careful especially at night since the cars may not see you. This hotel is located in a more windy side of the island. You should venture out to other areas for better experience.

The hotel does have superb sunset view over the infinity pool. The hotel ground is well maintained and the staff at the restaurant was very nice.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for room with plunge pool/jet tub.

If you want a hotel walking distance from town but don't want to be in the center of town, then this place is good. Not much on amenities and while they tell you not to drink/brush your teeth with the water, they will provide bottled water-at a fee! That just didn't feel right. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was fine-nothing out of the ordinary.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the ocean
