“Good quality, good service”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

This is as good as it gets. A large selection of local food, the menu has pictures and english names.
I had a great yam with spicy fish and rice. My glass was refilled with beer by an attentive waiter.
Definitely would go there again when in Chanthaburi.

“Hot hot hot”
Reviewed 2 November 2011

This is the most famous restaurant in Chanthaburi, located in the town center. Their menu has all the highlights of the region, including Moo-Chamuang and Pad-Thai. We had several spicy dishes and I was sweating bullets. Very good quality rice. They also have many items for purchase takeaway. Don't forget to order the Sala fruit in ice for dessert.

“Delicious Thai Chinese food but challenging for some”
Reviewed 7 July 2011

We stumbled into this restaurant after checking in at the Kasemsarn Hotel across the road. It was around 9:30 and they were clearing up the tables (things close quite early in Chanthaburi) but they welcomed us in and sat us down. While the family (and my wife) watched Thai soap opera on the TV, we chose Snapper with Ginger and Chinese Celery, Wild Chicken in Spicy Sauce and Stir-fried Chinese vegetable from the bi-lingual (Thai/English) menu.

The food arrived promptly and it was delicious. What must be said though is that this is real cooking as the Thai Chinese like it. Meat is chopped not filleted, bones and sinews are left in and in fact much appreciated. Some of it, for me, was challenging. I've never eaten wild chicken before and I can tell you, those birds are athletes. Skinnny, with lots of muscle and almost no fat. The meat has that bouncy, rubbery texture that people in the East - very much including my wife - particularly adore. The snapper was recently deceased and super delicious, but watch out for the bones. The vegetable dish was as good as I've ever tasted, but quite sweet which is very much the way of Thai cooking.
The bill for two with 2 large Singha beers was about $27 and service was gracious and friendly.
As well as the restaurant there is a shop with lots of delicacies and food souvenirs based on the durians, mangosteens and other fruit for which the Chanthaburi region is famous.
