“Much better than reviews I've read!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

The last eight years of visiting Lanzarote I have been put off by the mixed reviews for this hotel and have always booked a different hotel. However I booked 3 nights here last week and I thought it was an excellent hotel. I booked with Hotels.com but at last minute changed to hotels4U as they reduced their prices and it was very reasonable. The breakfast was excellent, much better than many other 4* hotels. The main meals didn't have too much choice but the hotel was only half full as the season hasn't really started. The apartment I had was massive and had everything needed for self catering although I booked all inclusive. Next time I will book B & B as I can try the restaurants people recommend. The staff were friendly, there was plenty of room around the pools and the beach just across the road. I am so glad I tried this hotel for myself as so often there are special offers. I would definitely use this hotel again.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012

Overall- very clean lovely hotel, enjoyable stay! Very good 3star! 4 out of 5

My fiance and I are just back from 2 weeks in the Sol Lanzarote, we chose a self catering apartment due to needing the fridge (we both take protein shakes)

The apartment- was clean and spacious, the bathroom was large and modern, the kitchen was decent size and had a microwave, two rings for cooking, cutlery, pots & pans, the only thing missing was an oven (we don't like to fry food). Good sized balcony- we got sea view on request, we didn't have to pay extra!!
The maids cleaned every day and plenty of towels were available.
Our room was located at the side of the hotel near the Odin restaurant, very happy with this as the steps at the back brought us straight out to the promenade. Very handy! Only thing we disliked about the bedroom was the annoying single beds, we hate those. A double bed would have been a nice option.
Could have done with a few more english channels, there were 8 in total. 1 cbs drama, 2. didnt work, 3. religious. 4,5,6,7- NEWS!! 8-disney.

The location- EXCELLENT!!!!
hotel is right on the beach, be aware- this is a VERY quiet resort. lovely for couples, families and a chillaxing break. Although the party end of Puerto del carmen is only a 5euro taxi away.
Come out of the hotel at the back onto the promenade and you are right on the beach!!!
Turn left, a 2min walk to the shops, restaurants, pubs and the Spar- very cheap and has everything you could need.
Turn right and about a 10min walk to more restaurants, bars and shops.

The hotel-
Lovely hotel with friendly staff, although we did not eat in the hotel (due to sooooo many amazing resturants around) we did have a good look at the food on offer, all looked very nice and had good clean (not fatty or fried) options, but also a lot of cheat food too, like chips and good deserts.
To eat in the hotel if you are just paying is 16.50euro pp per meal (drinks not included) and is the same price for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As self catering to add on half board option is 20euro pp er day, we decided not to as eating out was a lot cheaper.
Waring to all inclusive guests! In the snack bar (outside by the pool) Birds fly in (a lot of birds around the hotel) they sit on the food trays and cheekily even pop in on top of the food and eat the rice etc. This could be easily avoidable with a lid without a hole but the hotel staff and other guests did not seem to care about this- myself i would not eat the snack bar hot meals as it is very unhygienic.
The pool consists of two large pools and one smaller one, also a baby pool. The pool was chilly, but lovely!! They could do with a few more umbrellas to lay under but there were enough sunbeds and plenty of space.
We didn't spend too much time at the pool due to the lovely beach!!!
On little annoying thing was that after 9pm thy lock the back gate but only to 11pm does your key card work to let you back in, meaning that after a meal or a drink you have to walk all the way round to the front of the hotel!! As our room was at the back/side we just had to climb over the wall every night to save trekking all the way round when our room was in sight from the promenade.

The gym-
This was the reason we chose Sol Lanzarote, my fiance is a bodybuilder and myself a personal trainer so the gym is very important- even on holidays. It was very well equipped!

Weights went up to 25kg
Machines-
bench & incline bench
Cable
Lat pull down
Seated Row
Preacher curl
Hack squat/leg press
seated calf
power rack
inner & outer thigh
Pec fly

Cardio- spin bikes (old but they work)
1 crosstrainer
1 treadmill

The gym itself could do with a new carpet and some AIR-CON!! but the equipment was decent and did the job for a couple weeks. one of the free benches (incline) was very dangerous and had a very sharpe egde so be careful
Also- bring your own music as the gym dosent have any
If you arnt used to training in the heat then you may not be able to train here, my fiance was grand but i found it difficult. there are fans but they really don't do anything and even at night when it was cold outside the gym was still roasting
BUT- it is the best gym in the area- we had a walk and a really good nosie into all the 4star hotels in the areas and the gyms were pityful- some only had 5machines no weights and no cardio!!

would 100% recommend!!!!
No1 restaurant- Sirocco Steak house & pizzeria!
This was by far the best place to eat! Steak was amazing!!! pizza delicious and the seafood was great too. deserts were yum!! staff friendly and just a lovely atmosphere. its the first restaurant you see when you turn left from the hotel and see the little group of restaurants and shops. We tried a good few places but returned here 6 times! Also very reasonable- prices for pasta dishes between 6-8, seafood around 7, sirloin 9.50, fillet steak 15, pizzas between 6-10, glass of wine only 2! deserts around 4-5.
Peggy's Snug was a lovely quiet little bar- very friendly staff
The Mexican was also very good! staff fun & friendly!

The only down side to the hotel- the reason i didn't give 5 out of 5.
The noise!!! :(
The ceilings/walls are very thin and the furniture very heavy!! therefore you get woke up early by the maids cleaning upstairs dragging the furniture around for 30-45min!! this happened every day, we complained 3 times and it stopped for 1day then started again. Even if you are on the top floor the noise from the next room is the same. On holidays we like a good lay in and sometimes even a nice siesta after the sun, but unfortunately sleep is very hard to get here and being woke up early every morning was a huge downfall for us :( so if you are the same as us and like a lay in, then definitely request the top floor!!! or BRING EAR PLUGS!
Although- if you are an early bird then you would be grand!

We would return to the Sol Lanzarote, but just stay on the top floor. :)

Room Tip: Apartments on the left side have very handy access to everything. Top floor advisable :)

Myself, wife & 2 young children have just arrived home late May 2012 from a week at the Sol Lanzarote and had a great holiday. It is absolutely ideal for a young family. Food was great, large restaurant with a good choice of food at all sittings, only grumble was breakfast wasnt served until 8am and dinner until 7pm (was a bit of a pain with young children). Hotel staff were excellent, particularly the entertainment/kids club staff. Plenty of choice at the pool snack bar during the day and you can help yourself to soft drinks, water, hot drinks. Pools were very good, there are 3 plus a small toddler pool but all were cold and are not heated, although once in you soon get used to them, plenty of kids didnt seem to mind! It is lterally right on the beach which is also very nice and quiet and sea is clean and about same temperature as the pools. Some good facilties close by including a good 'commercial centre' within 5 minute walk that hosts 2 supermarkets and numerous restaurants. Hotel room was great, nice and spacious with a pool/sea view on 1st floor. Maids work very hard and leave it spotless every day.
Would highly recommend this hotel to any young family wishing to travel to Lanzarote.

Room Tip: Pool or sea view would definately be preferable.

Myself and my husband have just came back from our third trip to the Sol Lanzarote. Requested a sea/pool view room which we were given on arrival. Hotel fantastic, staff very pleasant, rooms cleaned every day, grounds were extremely well kept. Sunbeds are not available until about 8.30 am which is a good thing as in the past sunbeds are reserved early in the morning and are not used until late afternoon. Went on a self catering basis as we like to eat out and try diffent places. There is a fanastic Mexican restaurant just in the square five minutes away food lovely. Hotel entertainment good on some nights, Beatles tribute band were really good and also the magician with his partner who did acrobats, his partner was fantastic at what she did. Would definately go back to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 1205 which has quite a good view

My girlfriend and I booked this holiday back in january, we had booked to stay in the Sol Lanzarote the first 2 weeks in May. Hotel staff were polite and efficient when we spoke to them,we even tried a bit of spanish on them, which went down well. First impressions of the room were, very clean, great size of bedroom and bathroom was huge. We went self catering and were equipped with 2 hob rings, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and a choice of plates cups glasses cutlery and utensils. We only used the kitchen once as we preferred to eat out. We found a nice wee pub about 10 minutes walk from the hotel called'The Anchor Bar' its well worth a visit. We were in everyday for breakfast or dinner. We had a room overlooking the carpark at the front, with a partial sea view. Only noise was the buses reversing when collecting or dropping off travellers, but we didn't hear this too often as we only slept in the room and were out or beside the pool most of the day. Swimming pools were a good size. Use one of the showers next to the pool before getting in as it takes away the shock of the pool. The gardens were extremely well kept. There was always someone tending to the plants or clearing the area up. Rooms were cleaned everyday to a very high standard, beds were made, changed sheets every couple of days. Floors mopped and new towels every day. Maids always made the effort to say hello to you when you passed them. We went to the nighttime entertainment a few times, which was ok, not our cup of tea but when we walked by it seemed to be busy. The entertainment at the Anchor bar was more up our street. Shop in the spar close to the hotel as the shop at the hotel can be a bit more expensive and closes between 1-4pm. If you are given 2room cards for your door, keep one in the power slot so that your air conditioning stays on all day, it makes such a difference. Especially when we were there in the 40degree heatwave! We already know that were going back next year!
