We stayed here for a few nights and had a great stay. We would certainly consider a return visit.
Our room number 1, a comfortable room at the top of a narrow spiral staircase contained a double and single bed, drawers, a wardrobe and a wash basin. There was a large en-suite bathroom with another sink, there is also a shower over the bath.
The hotel’s gardens are very well kept, several acres of “English” style gardens, with a pond, as well as an enclosure for the numerous free range chickens, ducks and turkeys that have made this their home, there are also a number of cats that the owners have adopted.
The restaurant serves a good selection of generously portioned vegetarian and vegan meals, although the relative low value of GBP made these seem fairly expensive, our meals were all excellent, and I was even surprised to learn that a number of the local French population also visit the restaurant.
I have only two criticisms, one in relation to the sound from the local church bells that ring three times each day including 7 am. The other that credit cards are not accepted, so, after discovering that unlike those in every other country I have visited, French banks do not allow cash advances against Visa cards ‘over the counter’, only via ATMs, we needed to make a number of withdrawals to obtain sufficient Euros to pay for our food and accommodation!
The surrounding area has numerous places to visit, from Chateau gardens to a number of sites of interest in relation to the D-Day landings and subsequent battles for Normandy.
