An apartment is located in a small condo at the end of the Turtle Beach Road. Close to the and beautiful quiet beach (about 10-15 min. to walk) and local shops and cafes (5 min.), where you can buy water, vegetables, instant coffee and even beer (at the Radio Maria cafe). There is a spacious veranda, regularly visited by curious and cute Syke's Monkeys. Some of them will try to steal your food, so don't forget to close the doors. A tuk-tuk to Watamu Village (with supermarkets, fish and fruit stalls) costs about 150-200 KSH (1,5-2 euros). The only improvements we would recommend is replacing mattresses and buying a new fan (the ceiling fan is too weak and nights can be very hot in Watamu).
Myself and my partner, with our two children (aged 7) stayed for Christmas and New Year.
The house is beautiful and has an open lounge, which I thought was lovely! It was very quiet during the day, not too loud at night either. The kids had their space and loved swimming all day - which suited us fine as the lounge over looks the pool, which meant we could keep an eye on them.
There is a maid who comes in to clean during the week, who was lovely - very helpful! The Masai guard was friendly - spent quite a few evenings chatting whilst waiting for our Tuk Tuk - also can't do enough for you!
The location itself is very good, a 10 minute walk to the beach, or 10 minutes in the tuk tuk to go out for lunch. Or if you want something closer (as we did), walking up the road as the Temple Resort where you can go for lunches/dinners etc (lovely food!) and activities during the day.
The beach is beautiful and has to be visited! Our favourite past time was snorkelling - which the kids loved! Due to the Paka House location, we were close to all the sports and sights which was a blessing when you have two kids in tow.
I would return here, and have already recommended to friends and family! An amazing holiday and cherished memories!
