I recently had to travel to India for a company related conference and was booked in at the Satkar Residency as it was the closest to the office. The arrival in India and trip from the airport can be quite daunting at 2am especially as it seems your'e disappearing from the city. It takes about 45-50 mins to the hotel.

The driver knew two words "hello" and "just now", which was quite funny. The hotel stands out from a distance. Staff were quite accomodating and were expecting my arrival. The room booked was a deluxe. Which had quite new furnishings, a little office area, an LG tv(mostly indian television, does get CNN & HBO), bed was clean and comfortable. The bath room had mordern touches(basin, toilet and bath). Shower had numerous shower heads for a full body wash, however the drain kept backing up.

There was a bar fridge with Pepsi products and Kingfisher beer(Indian equivalent to Heinken/Amstel). Quite refreshing(expect to be charged about 130-200Rupees. There are two 500mL of complimentary bottle water.

The room views show a total opposite of the hotel. India has extreme riches next to extreme poverty. There is a quaint little bar on the second floor, next to the restaurant(Palates). The food is a total Indian experience. A group of us tried the Tandoori Chicken(BBQ'ed chicken(bones), Tikka chicken(no bones), and a few hot surprises. Supper was manageable and a new experience. Try the Limca drink after the meal. This is a lemonade that helps with digestion. Quite nice. Staff were at every beck and call and very concerned if we were enjoying everything. Very pleasant and helpful.

The Satkar Residency is a great place to stay for a few days on work related trips. The room was comfortable and the porters very willing to help. However, if you need to change currency do it before you leave the airport(39.6INR=1USD), the hotel offers (35-36INR=1USD). We did venture out on a taxi(tuk-tuk) to find a Pizza Hut on the 3rd day. It's about 5-10km away at a shopping centre called R-Mall. Costs 20 INR to get there. Pizza's were enjoyable(200INR) however, expect veggie and curry pizzas.

All in all, prepare for an adventure trip. The sad thing was the pollution, it's around all the time and the air is very hazy. Otherwise, an indian experience to remember.

It was my first visit to India wherein the Local company had booked a room for me in this 3 star hotel which is very far from the airport as far the traveling is concerned considering the city traffic chaos but very close to the work place. It was new property and as told by the local company the best in the vicinity. My stay was for 4 days. The biggest pull for this Hotel is its clean design . They have great restaurants both the Multi cuisine and also a pure veg restaurant though the bar scene was not too happening . The rooms were fabulous(stayed in a Deluxe room) comparable to any 5 star Hotels and also a good location . Internet facility was free till the month of September as told by the hotel staff. The housekeeping boys were courteous. The front office staff could be more helpful with the local information details and also the check ins could be a bit more faster. The buffet spread was decent but could improve The hotel also had a small mini pool though not big to hotel standards but clean. The room service boys were not very fluent with English which the hotel should improve upon. The minibar was empty- maybe for the guest to store their stuff. They provided hot water kettle but no tea/coffee//sugar sachets.I did have an AC problem but it was rectified on time. The biggest drawback was that the Gym and the Coffee shop was not open during my stay (opening in the month of October, told by Hotel staff. The hotel could certainly improve on certain details in order to become one of the better known hotels in town

Stayed here for a week while on business. My company selected this hotel as it is close to our office in Thane. Apparently it is the best option in the area. Staying near the office was advised due to the monsoon rains which can make travelling long distances by road difficult.

Hotel had all the basics, but some of the "extra touches" were lacking. The place appeared to be a relatively old building but some parts (including my room) had been modernised to some extent. The room was OK, clean and with a comfortable double bed. TV had many international channels including BBC, CNN and movies. Bathroom was fine, again looked new and was clean. Free broadband connection in room. Air conditioning worked fine. Fridge in the room, free water provided but no other drinks in the fridge (guess you can buy from outside or room service).

The hotel was let down by the other facilities. The swimming pool was full of black water and could not be used. The hotel I could see from my window accross the road has clear blue water!! The hotel was noisy on occasion, the soundproofing appeared to be very poor. The people answering the room service phones were not polite and did not speak good English, however the people delivering the food (and the housekeeping staff) were polite and friendly. Requests for iron, etc. were responded to promptly.

Quality of the food from the room service was OK, but not great, although prices were not exceptionally high for a hotel. Breakfast was a fairly limited selection and not especially great. I did not try bars and restaurants.

All in all an OK hotel if you don't need full 5 star service and want something in Thane.
