“Very satisfied with our stay at the Iberostar.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

We stayed at the Iberostar March 14-21. The hotel was very nice. Surprisingly quiet. The food was pretty much what you would expect from an all inclusive. The restraurants were good. We ate at the Japanese, steakhouse and the Cajun one. Did not have to wait in line long to make reservation. Make sure you get up there by 9:00 to make your reservation. The rooms were clean and did have a problem with the maid cleaning the rooms so late. Came to clean around 6:00 in the evening. We were getting ready to go to dinner, so just asked for clean towels and told her to come back the next day to clean. Did not go to town, the taxi cost 70$. Not worth it. People very helpful and friendly. Smiley is hilarious! Overall, would go back. Quiet vacation.

We went to this resort as a "2nd Hooneymoon," & it blew our mind on how gorgeous the resort was and how much they offer. Let's just say...I'd stay there forever if I could. The activities staff members kept everyone all ages having a good time, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly, & the pool bartenders were nice and quick. The food was good. & the free water activities was another way to keep cool. The resort is right on the beach and everything is in walking distance. The lobby is air conditioned which is a nice break from the heat where you can enjoy a cold "Bob Marley." The resort was extremely clean also. The disco (club) was good. We already plan on going back next year! Also..the pictures does not do the resort justice!

Room Tip: Ocean view to watch the sun rise

My husband wanted to go the caribbean for his 30th Birthday but our work schedules allowed for a brief stint of 5 days/4 nights (April 18-April 22). After researching various spots, I decided to go with Montego Bay, Jamaica because it was close to Sangster airport and we didn't want to waste precious time in a shuttle to the resort. I read the reviews on this website and felt that Iberostar Rose Hall Beach would give us a lot for your money. We were not disappointed! I booked the vacation through Cheapcaribbean.com and requested a non-ocean room on a higher floor that was also non-smoking due to my allergies. When I spoke to the Cheapcaribbean rep. she said there was no gurantee but would put in my request. When we arrived and made it to our room, it was EXACTLY what we wanted. We even had a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. Only wish the balcony wasn't completely concrete, so you could look out while sitting.

Beach had plenty of shade and beach chairs available. The pool area always filled up by 9 AM, but we liked the beach because it was quieter and that is why we came to the caribbean. The staff came by regularly to take our drink orders and they were very prompt to return with them. We've stayed at all-inclusive resorts in the past but were so impressed by the staff here. They were kind, courteous, fun and really worked hard to make our trip better. I could see other vacationers pleased with the level of service as well. I hope the management rewards them for their efforts because it really does matter when it comes to choosing where to stay.

Food was good, pool was great, and the weather was fantastic. The resort was full and active during the day, but not loud at night. Can't find one thing to complain about. We would highly recommend this resort. We had such a nice experience here, I can't help but wondering what it would have been like at the higher priced Suites and Grand Rose Hall next door...

Iberostar – Montego Bay – April 14-21 2012

The first thing to know about this resort is that it was split into three different resorts. The Grand (most expensive) The Suites (middle) and The Beach (least expensive). I stayed in the Beach Resort. It’s important to note that whichever resort you stay in you can only visit that resort and any other resort that is less expensive. Being that I was at the Beach, I was not allowed to visit or use the facilities at the Suites or the Grand, however if I had stayed at the Grand I would have been able to visit and use all three. The only exception is for the Disco and Spa – they are in the suites and all visitors are allowed to visit these places.

Check In – Check in did not go so smooth for us. We checked in and got our key cards to our rooms and a bell boy helped us to our room. Upon arriving to our room our cards did not work to open the doors. This gentlemen went back down to the front desk to get us new cards. (our room was the furthest possible room from the lobby) once he got back the room keys didn’t work again! So he ran back down to the front desk, got new cards and a machine he hooked up to the electronic card door opener. All in all it took us about 20 minutes from the time we left the lobby until we got into our room. I’m pretty easy going about that sort of thing, so the rough start didn’t bug me, but I’m sure it would have ticked some people off. After we were settled in our room we went back to the lobby to exchange some cash and the entire computer system was down. The people working at the front desk looked frustrated, but there were servers handing out free drinks so the customers we’re that upset. Throughout our stay the people at the front desk were always willing to help out and had a smile on their faces – it was only the first day that we experienced a hiccup.

The Rooms – We booked through expedia, a regular partial ocean view room. We called the resort directly about a month before we left and asked if there were any ocean view rooms not being used if we could be upgraded. *note we did this before we got there* they ended up putting us in a full frontal ocean view corner room.(room 2336) It was the biggest possible room aside from the penthouse. They also upgraded the other couple we were staying with to the room beside ours. The rooms were not excellent, just nice. The bathroom was regular standard size, one sink, shower and bath. The hair dryer is not very good, I highly recommend bringing your own if you like to blow dry your hair.

The Beach and Pool – There was always chairs on the beach. The ocean does have seaweed so that does get washed up on shore but once a day they come along and rake it all up. The do have entertainment staff throughout the day and have a microphone and music system so if you sit on the beach close to the pool it’s a bit loud. If you head down the beach in either direction you can get away from the loud music.

There is a shack at the end of the beach resort that you can rent snorkel gear from. You only get 1 hour per day though, there is some snorkelling along the beach and we enjoyed doing that so if you have your own gear bring it! Its just not worth the hassle of making sure you get the gear back in time.

However if you do go down there and decide you want to buy gear it is more expensive at the shark shack. If you go to the store on the beach resort its half price for a snorkel mask. That’s where I bought mine.

Al e carts Restaurants – for a 7 night stay you get to book 3 restaurants. You had to wait in line and can be a bit frustrating if you need to make changes to your reservations. Expect to wait about 30 minutes in line to make your reservations. We tried to book all of our meals the day after we got there and we could only get the late time slots. There are two time slots for meals 6:30/7:00 and 8:30/9:00. However if you do like the restaurants if you go on the same day in the afternoon if they are not fully booked up they allowed us to eat an extra meal on top of out 3 included.

There are 3 al a cart restaurants. Japanese, steakhouse, jambalaya. Japanese food was delicious, a great show from the chef, they cook right in front of you. But I didn find the portion size of the meal a bit large. Go to this one hungry!
Steakhouse is a buffet appetizer and dessert and the main dish is served to you. Food was delicious.
I didn’t attend the jambalaya but if has a lot of seafood and it was the favorite for the other couple we traveled with.

The Disco – there is a disk at the Iberstaro star at the Suites Hotel. Everyone is allowed to party there. They play on a regular schedule 1 hour pop, 1 hour local/BET (black entertainment channel – if you have that show in your tv) and they switch back and forth for the entire night. The bar closes at 3 pm and the start clearing up your drinks weather or not you have finished them at this time. Its their non-evasive way of asking you to leave. LOL. I had a lot of fun at the disco, definitely hit it up one night while you are there.

Room Tip: Standard partial oceanview room - If you call the resort directly before you leave for your trip and...

I vacationed in Jamaica with my husband and 12 year old daughter during the week of April 16-21st. The accomodation and service at Iberostar Beach Resort was EXCELLENT. Every staff member was courteous, friendly, welcoming and provided us with exceptional customer service.

We made reservations at the Cajun restaurant one night and the food was not good. We really liked the variation of foods at Little River which had many foods and fresh fruits to suit your tastebuds.

The grounds at this resort was immaculate and very clean.

Christopher (at the pool side bar) was great and looked forward to his daily performances.

The entertainment team (Star Friends) added much laughter to our vacation. A special thanks to Lady Spice and Megatron who kept the guests engaged in fun activities.

My family cannot stop talking about our wonderful experiences and fond memories during our stay at Iberostar. I hope to return to this resort in the near future.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony provide a great view.
