“Friendly Great & Comfortable Vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2012

We went to the Iberostar Beach hotel from Feb.25th, to March 3rd, and the overall experience was fabulous.
If you are travelling t Jamaica for the first time then you should be going with an open mind. I read some reviews where they speak about weed being offered and the men all over the women, but I would like to defend this manner. My friend and I travelled together 2 single women, yes we were approached if we wanted ganja, not only at the hotel, but the airport, the beach the market the hotel, everywhere, it is a way of life. As well the men are very flirtatious and you do not have to be '' a desperate white girl'' as mentioned by a previous advisor, the animators at the hotel are flirtatious, but they are doing their job and trying to make you feel welcome and have a great time, they were just as flirtatious with the 50 year old and 75 year old women and men.... remember no problem in Jamaica...
Now as for the hotel:
Food,
Food was amazing plenty of choices in the morning and in the afternoon there were 2 buffets the main buffet that is located close to the pool, this buffet at lunch is open from 1-3pm and it had more options for food at lunch, therefore if you were not in the mood for hamburgers or hot dogs, they had a pasta and pizza section as well as other grilled meats and of course either Jerk chicken or Jerk pork. The other lunch buffet is located closer to the water centre, this had a smaller buffet, with your salads and hamburger hot dogs as well as your grilled chicken and pork, this buffet is open from 11-5pm...
Supper, there is the main buffet which has a wide variety and sometimes theme nights for instance Italian night, Mexican night etc... as well there are 3 speciality restaurants... the Japanese, which if you get a good chef he can put on a great show for you, as well as the Cajun restaurant that has some good sea food, and the steak house, which I must say has a great choice of meat and it was tasty.
Rooms,
The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, they restock the fridge every other day and I have no complaints, the AC worked wonderfully. I was located in room 1454 which is on the fifth floor in the front of the hotel, the balcony was on the side of the hotel and to my left I could see the beach and in front the forest. In all honesty I do not understand the emphasis on needing a beach front view as any room gives you the view and how much time do you really need to spend on your balcony.
Staff...
The staffs were always helpful and ready to help out. Polite and always ready to offer is drinks. The hotel lobby has some great bar tenders... try the French kiss drink it’s a citreous sweet drink. As well if you find the bar a little crowded just take a seat and a waitress will come and serve you.
The animation team... ahhhh, I can honestly say that they really work hard at what they do and in making you feel welcome. They try hard in their shows, keep in mind this is not las Vegas but really hard workers, the dancing is amazing.. Speaking of the dancing again please have an open mind, Jamaican dancing is very sexual and there are times where you may think you are watching a mating ritual, but in all honesty it was fun to watch and real laugh as well. The animation team work hard from 9am to 12am a full day. They do not only go after the women but will come sit with you and speak and play with your kids and family. They will dance with you.
The hotel offers a free shuttle at 10 and 11pm to Margaretville in Mobay, the shuttle brings you back at either 1 or 2am. Go to margaritaville, you are with other tourists and locals and they bring dancing to a whole different level. Margaretville is open to all people over 18, and yes we saw plenty of people over 40 as well, and in fact a family went together.

The grounds at the hotel are spotless working constantly. We did go see the Suits and Grand side, The suits has a bigger pool area as well a nice kids centre and the grand was adults only and extremely quite.
Excursions-
We did 3 excursions
The Catamaran Duns River Falls- We went by catamaran to the falls, climbed and then had a cruise on the catamaran that her rum and beer, great experience paid 119$ from 10 to 5pm had a fabulous time and cannot complain.
Negril Day trip
10-7pm 45$left for Negril we had 3 hours on the beach, not this is a great beautiful beach it truly is wow and you have to see the 7 mile stretch, after we also had a stop at the famous Rick's cafe watched the cliff divers and the sunset back on the bus and back to the hotel.
Luminous Lagoon
6pm to 9pm- 66$
Really not worth it, for 3 hours and you have to have a good night to really see the glowing water.

All in All a great vacation no complaints if you have a complaint like people flirting or offering ganja please remember keep an open mind. You just smile and say thank you but no and they respond with no problem... they are not forceful or harassing. Some people need to just relax, that what you’re on vacation for.

If you go, have a great vacation and get to know the animation team, Lady Tremor (ask why she is lady tremor you will be in awe), Lava Child, Lady Spice, Smiley, and MegaTron... they will make you vacation by bringing you the fun.

We were a group of 50+, and if we had any complaints it would be the usual Saturday arrival at the airport. We were transported in 3 buses so by the time we got there check in was easy as it was done in stages, Rooms my wife and I were very pleased #2324, overlooking pool area and good ocean view. Food again no complaints my wife thought this was the best buffet we have had in our travels, no problems with the drinks , you want more alcohol in your drink ask for it. We didn't go on any tours except to shopping in the hip strip, and Rose hall shops, Staff what can be said but "excellent" always helpful and polite, up until this time we avoided Jamaica as we heard everyone was pushy, not so. We have been to Dominican 3 times Mexico once , Cuba once and we would defiantly go back to Jamaica . Ya Mon.

I agree with anyone who can find a complaint about this resort, should really not travel! Gorgeous views from the rooms, comfortable accommodations - serta mattresses! Food - we could not get enough of, lots of variety every day, different every day (we were there a week) and variety for all ages! Food is available 24/7. Special thanks to Kevin with superb attitude who made best espresso and cappuccino in the resort along with Jamaican delight drink! The beach is beautiful with lots of shade and chairs, amazing to take walks or jog along the water. Very equipped exercise room! Plus the resort itself allows for great space for jogging. Entertainment staff was wonderful, activities running the whole day for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend this resort for all ages, you will feel very safe, comfortable and happy! Enjoy!

We spent 2 weeks in Jamaica, Jan. 23 - Feb. 6. We booked 2 separate resorts: the first week we stayed at Ibero Beach, and the second week at the Grand Palladium.

Our first trip ever was to Jamaica in 2007, and since then we've been to Cuba, Dominican and Mexico (Mayan, P.V. & Manzanillo). We were excited to come back to Jamaica to see if we had painted Jamaica with 'rose coloured glasses', as we compared every place we had been to since with Jamaica. The verdict is in: Jamaica is definitely better than anywhere else! The people are so much friendlier (& funnier!), the food is better and it seems more tropical than other places we've been - greener & flowers everywhere.

There are 3 resorts at this location, but if you book the RH Beach you can't visit the Suites or the Grande. If you are planning on staying for more than one week I suggest you book the Suites or the Grande. For our one week stay it was fine, but I think any longer I would want more options than 'beach or pool'

Having said that we were never bored. The entertainment staff did a great job of keeping guests entertained and were good at rounding up people for various activities throughout the day. They were more 'in your face' than I've seen at other resorts, but I think they did that because it is a smaller resort with less places to go, things to do. All of the staff were very involved & friendly and went out their way to make sure you were having a good time.

The room had a coffee maker, hair dryer and a fridge stocked with water, pop & beer. Tip: ask the fridge re-stocker guy for extra bottled water. He only comes every second day and you will run out if you like to carry bottled water with you. They do not have bottled water at the bars - If you ask for water they give it to you in a cup.

The shower did not have very good pressure and sometimes took a few minutes to get warm, but not a big deal. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, body wash, lotion, soap, shower caps & shoe shine.

One thing we noticed was that people rarely left a tip at the buffet & beach restaurants. Those people work hard - would it kill you to leave a buck on the table before leaving?

We had a great time, and no problems with this resort.

In comparing the two resorts we stayed at:
Ibero Beach: small, friendlier staff
Grand Palladium: huge - multiple beaches, pools, restaurants, bars to choose from.
If we were to choose which one we'd stay at again we would pick the Grand Palladium because they had so many more options.

If anyone could find a complaint about this resort should not travel, We went as a group of 12 and had the best time ever at a resort, The food was to die for, usually I come home up or down a pound, this time up 10lbs. The entertainment around the pool and beach was great. The Japanese restaurant and steak house were super. The buffets had alot of selection and great food for breakfast lunch and supper . Our rooms were very nice, clean, & AC cool. The bathroom was nice and clean,. The bartenders were very good at their jobs, no lack of rum in the drinks. It is also Appleton rum, good stuff, Plenty of loungers at the beach and at the pool, Waitresses bring you drinks at beach and the pool. Barbeques at the beach were great, People from the Suites would come to our resort for food and entertainment because it was much better, They said our food was alot better & their resort was boring and had to pay alot more $$$. The Grand is adult only, We would walk the beach there and there wasn't a thing going on there ,BORING!!! So if anyone is looking for a trip of their life go to this resort, you won't be sorry. (Planning a return trip already) Special thanks to Trimmer, Spice, Robert, Patrick, Smilly, Lavachild, Megatron

Room Tip: Oceanview rooms are great
