“Stunning location, warm welcome”

We had a wonderful half term holiday in this lovely villa. Being welcomed by Eleftheria's family with gifts of fruit, plus home-produced olive oil, biscuits and raki made us feel at home straight away. The villa is comfortable, well equipped and clean, with plenty of places to relax and enjoy the heavenly view. The two villas on site are detached and screened from each other, so it's easy enough to be private, although if you need total isolation you might want to look elsewhere. A great option for two families or a larger group, though. The pool was cold but we were there in late October, so we didn't expect anything else! There are several tavernas within walking distance (quite a steep uphill walk back from the lake, good if you've overindulged!), although a car is needed for shopping trips and further exploring. Georgioupolis (5 minutes drive away) has supermarkets and a large range of tavernas and bars, as well as a long sandy beach. Chania and Rethymnon are an easy drive and highly recommended for a day trip.
We loved our stay at Villa Bluefairy, thank you so much to Eleftheria and all her family!

“Lovely Villa with great view of Lake Kournas”
Reviewed 13 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed in Villa Rea which was very clean and comfortable, with great facilities for a family of 4. The villa is located in a peaceful, rural location in the hills overlooking Lake Kournas and is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday.

The owners are very friendly and made us feel most welcome during our 2-week stay, leaving us lovely gifts such as home-baked biscuits & cake, local fruit, olive oil and even Raki !! The villa was regularly cleaned and all bedsheets/towels were replaced every 3-4 days. Eleftheria (the owner's daughter) also kept in regular contact to check that everything was ok.

The villa is a short walk from a small village where there is a selection of tavernas that serve traditional Cretan food (I especially recommend Georgia's). The nearest supermarket is in the small seaside resort of Georgioupolis (about 3 km away) so you really need a car for shopping and to explore further afield (there is a regular tourist shuttle 'train' to/from Georgioupolis if you don't have a car).

Lake Kournas is a warm, fresh-water lake and is ideal for swimming (about 1.5km diameter). You can also hire a pedalo for a relaxing time on the lake to look for goldfish and turtles (unfortunately it's not possible to walk all the way around the lake).

Overall, this was one of the most relaxing holidays I've ever had and would certainly recommend a stay at Villa Rea.

“Beautiful Place”
Reviewed 22 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This Villa is lovely, the views are breathtaking and the villa is well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners are really friendly and brought homemade, biscuits and cakes and even left local olive oil and raki for us. This area is very quiet and has a few tavernas you can walk to and more by the lake. A car is essential for getting to the local supermarket. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday then this is perfect - we will definitely be returning.
