when we arrived everything seemed fine and quite nice, after check in we went up to out room which is VERY basic went out onto the balcony to look out over the road which is VERY noisy. beds are two single beds push together which move very easily. no kettle or any facility's in the room no access to fridge not even to put your own water in as none is supplied. air con is €7 a night which is quite pathetic. also more money for safe deposit.

the swimming pool is FREEZING can't stay in there for more than 3 mins. the sea was nice and hot which was nice although the patch of beach the hotel own still charge €6 for 2 sunbeds even though your staying there. I don't mind spending money but it just seems they try to make money whenever they can.

argassi has some nice restaurants but it seems quite tacky and little else to do we got a scooter for 3 days which was nice to get away. I've being to many places in Greece I wouldn't recommend zante unless your in a really nice big resort with atleast 7 star which would really mean 5star.

I enjoyed my week away but the hotel seriously lacked and the breakfast was terrible went down once and honestly it was tragic,

this is an honest review from travelling from Cambodia staying in nicer hotels to staying in 6* in Australia

hope this helps

We wanted a week in a hotel on a Greek island on a bed and breakfast basis so we could enjoy local food in tavernas and be close to the sea where swimming in the sea was easy. We got this here. Although the hotel does offer half-board, with several really good tavernas off the main street a few minutes walk away, we had the freedom to vary our dining every night. The hotel has a lawn in front of the sea. We sat here on chairs, which we moved in and out of the sun as necessary. This avoided paying a hire charge for a sun bed on the small beach. The warm Ionian sea was no more than 60 metres from the lawn. We did have to pay 19 euros for the safe in the room and 49 euros for air conditioning. A bit of a cheek really as we expect these things to be part of a package deal, so come on Tui, sought this out. Air conditioning is free in July and August but charged the rest of the year. Finally, Monika in the bar was a delight.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms at the back are in the shade for quite a long part of the day anyway. We had a room facing the wall of another hotel.

Third time back at zakantha and it feels like home. Spotlessly clean rooms and great service from all the staff. Best hotel in Argassi
Food is 100% spot on and with a large selection. As for hidden costs, I would suggest reading the holiday brochure as all costs and charges are given there. Thank you Zakantha

This hotel is in a fabulous location, right on the beach and on the outskirts of town. You literally step down 8 steps and you are on the little narrow strip of beach. The star of this place is the truly wonderful Monica, who is so welcoming and friendly, she absolutely was the highlight of our nights. I will come back again purely because of her.

However, I have to say that the receptionist Marina, was extremely rude, awkward and even had the temerity to roll her eyes when I asked for her help. A very unpleasant person. All the other staff are lovely and friendly, especially Armando and the lovely lady in the little beach taverna.

There are a number of hidden costs, which is annoying, including the daily tax charge, the fee for the A/C (a 4 star hotel normally includes free A/C), the fee for the fridge and for the safe, and for the hotel's sunbeds on their strip of sand, it all adds up to some costly extras.

However, ignoring all those negatives, I will be booking again for next year, as the location is fabulous, and Monica is just a pure tonic - lovely, bubbly, friendly lady, who made our boozy nights a joy!

This hotel is not even 2*, and milles away from 4*! It's dirty and noisy! If you get room with a street view you want get any sleep. And everything is paying exstra; sef, A/C, even the fridge!!! And the breakfast is something you have to see...dirty and very limited with food from yesterday.
