Orange Village Resort is exciting property in Gangtok with amazing views from each and every room in the resort. It also as Gangtok's best disco and parties keep on happening to make the place more exiting.

We are 3 couples on a holiday to sikkim and have booked this resort for leisure. Although the resort is really amazing the service is an issue. Rooms are fantastic, we had booked a luxury suite. But while having out meals we experienced unprofessional services. The food we ordered was not on time and not accurate as per the orders. The staff seemed inexperienced like a fresher and no proper communication was offered to us if at all there was any issue.

Overall it was a good experience for us here but it would have been great if the service was professional. Certainly this is expected out of a luxury resort.

If you want a central Gangtok hotel, this is not it. The Orange Village is -as the address implies - about 7 miles drive from the centre, down the hillside so when it comes to eating and drinking, you'll most likely feel restricted to staying at the hotel. That's not a bad thing though as the food in the restaurant is excellent.

We had a suite with a separate living area and sleeping area and it was beautiful. Even more beautiful were the valley views which were stunning. The bathroom was also one of the best I've seen in an independent hotel in India.

We had a couple of communication hiccups - trying to get wifi access and getting our laundry done - but they were the sort of things that happen in India and just add a bit of colour to the trip.

I stayed at Orange Village resort for 3 nights in the month of January. Its a very nice resort with all luxury amenities. Service and hospitality is very good, but would need a little improvement is food. Although the buffet spread is very good but would need a little improvement is taste. This hotel is pretty far from Gangtok town, so do think about that before booking. Although if you are looking for a stay away from the hustle this one is perfect.

Orange Village is situated on the outskirts of Gangtok main town. It is exactly at Rani Pul location. It takes around 30-40 minutes to reach to M.G. Marg from the hotel and it would take you about Rs. 200-250 (in off peak season) to reserve a cab to go to the town. I was aware of all this before booking as I had spoken to Mr. Roshan (the Sales Manager) of Orange Village before booking this hotel on Goibibo. Mr. Roshan's guidance was extremely helpful. He explained to me the benefits of staying at Orange Village and also said that I might want to book just for a day or two to see how easy I find it to commute to the town market. If commute didn't pose to be that great a challenge, then he said he would be glad to extend our stay at the same prices for as long as I wanted. I booked initially for 2 nights and then extended my stay for another 2 nights.

The property is very good and especially the suite rooms are extremely spacious. Equipped with all amenities, the room is tastefully furnished and the view from the room was very good. Really loved our 4 nights stay at Orange Village.

1 disadvantage - the food is extremely expensive and yet not good. The downside is that there us no nearby restaurants, dhabas or even shops where you can eat and so the hotel prices for food are sky high. The portions served are very small. Well, all that could have been understandable if the food was tasty which it is not. Orange Village really needs to work upon its restaurant menu and pricing.

The hotel has a large family room adjacent to the restaurant where you can sit and relax with your friends/family, play cards, etc. The common room is so spacious that it can accommodate four pool tables so my suggestion to the hotel would be to add atleast 2 pool tables there. It would enhance the appeal a lot.

Room Tip: Carry eatables/snacks with you
