I use to travel nearly 25 days every month and have stayed at many hotels across India. My stay at Pondicherry Executive Inn last 2 months (Sep '11 till today) is truly a very pleasant and memorable experience specifically owing to the fact that I feel at home. All their ambience, location, rooms, services, food, amenities, staffs etc. - overall truly the best value for money as well as personalized attention from the hotel management too. This would always be my choice for any of my friend or relatives visiting Pondicherry
The hospitality were we found nowhere, taking care as like our relatives. The food is also made as per our requirement.

we booked a suite,it is very sweet and cozy.Best location i must say.beach is about 2 to 3 mins walk from the hotel, the french colony is right beside it and the market is about 5 min walk.the service is awesome.the food is okay not that great.the staff and the management is highly efficient and very friendly.bathroom is clean..we had a balcony facing the french street..the room is very comfortable

Room Tip: we were four of us so instead of taking two rooms we took one suite, its big has a living room and a bedroom, they charge you 400 per person so it costs very less than two rooms

1) For the location and the amenities, its absolute value for money
2) Stone throw distance from the Beach road and adjacent to the French colony
3) I loved their front facing balconies.
4) Good hospitality.

Thankfully i followed the tripadvisor advice to opt for this hotel - aptly, it was what everyone of my wanted to be. My wife wanted a balcony for fresh air - the executive deluxe room on third floor has it, my children wanted the room to be big; the executive deluxe room that we choose was indeed big enough for my toddler kid to wander all around the room and the balcony. The bed is nicely done - and surprisingly - they accepted my request for a bed sheet change everyday for all three days that i stayed. But they need to consider changing the foam matress to a coir one for better comfort.
On food; the breakfast was different on all three days - good to taste, and hygienic. We had one lunch during our stay and all chicken preparations- Butter Chicken, chicken curry was tasting to our liking - the punjabi style - no kadi patta and no coconut, the roti was fresh, rice bowl had good fragrance, curd was fresh.
But the dinner was disappointing. The Guntoor Chicken was not at all as per its style so prevelent in Bangalore, also Kadai chichen had the preparation same to the Achari chicken - the chef needs to learn some preparations it seems- may be just a bit of training which the hotel owner should invest into.
Overall, it was a wonderfull stay - highle recommended. But one needs to reserve in advance.
One advice, never buy water in the hotel, a normal bottled water costs a whoofing Rs22/- which was a bit on higher side which is normally available in pondicherry for Rs 16/-

Room Tip: go for only the executive deluxe room on fourth floor located towards the sea shore, the view of the street below is nice.
