Hotel surguru is fine with an admirable hospitality.well maintained clean rooms and good vegetarian food. No bars and rooms are spacious. Recommended to stay. Spacious car park is available. Buffet taste can be improved.

For any Family tour first and fore most important thing is Safety, Cleanliness and accessibility , all other luxuries are really not needed for the stay .
Surguru is Very good hotel which meets all above, every places is at walk-able distance from hotel , very clean and cosy rooms and toilets. Perfect value for money esp when you come with family .
Since there is no Bar attached and and every corner of hotel is well lit with lights ,we felt very safe for families. which other chain of hotels do not offer!
I have stayed in other chain brands of hotels in all my family tours ... never felt cosy in-spite of luxury appeal , either rooms are smelly with cigarette smoke or or have carpet stain smells .
It has delicious vegetarian restaurant attached with very good complement breakfast
Cheers to Surguru hotel.
only downside was , hot water was not available unless we called and asked for it , and extension of checkout time was not available even at additional cost.More

Room tip: Select superior rooms for King size bed, which is good for 2+1kid

Surguru is a good hotel located near the center of Puducherry. Nice rooms and good amenities. Comfortable beds, writing desks and a shaving mirror. Good friendly staff. A morning buffet breakfast. Nice place to stay and well located.

As with other reviews, the staff were incredibly rude and poorly trained. The rooms were dingy and poorly equipped with no sink plugs, no tea or coffee making facilities. Attempts to use laundry service was a fiasco, I will spare you the details, but it ended up with a man shouting at me for a bag as if it was my fault and then rummaging through my clothes in the wardrobe looking for the non existent bag!
There was a bright light outside our window until 11PM at night and then someone banging on the door at 7.30 AM with our breakfast tokens! Internet did not work.

Worst hotel I have stayed at since I was backpacking around Asia 40 years ago. The reception staff were incredibly rude. They had misplaced our booking, started yelling at us to sit down then didnt apologise when they finally found it. It was their error.
In the end, we had to unfortunately be rude back to them to get any information. The room had been booked as a twin but they then gave us a double. When we asked for an alternative, they took umbrage. The room was horrible, really small, dated and only one of the power points worked. The bathroom smelled of drains and the linen and towels were grey. Wifi didnt work in the rooms, only in the lobby. Our room was not serviced the next day, we had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper. The safe didnt work.
We have found people in India to be incredibly helpful and kind, the staff at this hotel were not.
Breakfast was down in the basement and was adequate. The only saving grace of this hotel was that it was easy to get out of. Mahatma Gandhi Road was close with shops and eating places and the waterfront was an easy walk away. Dont stay here.

Room tip: Dont stay here
