A beautiful temple in the heart of the city, very close to Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It is very well maintained. I always have a very peaceful visit whenever I an drawn there.

This temple is called as Manakula Vinyagar. Long ago there used to be a pond (Kulam in Tamil) on the western side of this temple. Due to its proximity of sea, it was filled with sand (Manal in Tamil). Consequently the temple was called as Manakulam. The temple is built on an area of 7913 sq.ft.

The following timings are taken from the website of the temple:

DHARSHANAM TIMINGS
Morining - 6.30 am & 11.00 am
Evening - 4.30 pm & 9.00 pm
(Timings are subject to change during Festivals & Holidays)

ABISHEGAM TIMINGS
6.30 am Everyday for Devotees
11.00 am Monday to Thursday for Devotees
(Except Festival Days Evening Abhishegam for Night Dharshanam)

SANKATAHARA CHATTURTTI ABHISHEGAM (4 Times)
Morining - 6.30 am & 11.00 am
Evening - 4.30 pm & 9.00 pm

Not sure why these are highly recommended to visit at Pondicherry. Rush to reach the idol as well. We have actually wasted time there

Paid obeisance to Lord Vinayaka at the Holy Vinayagar Temple and observed an old world quaint sagacious feeling at the time of offering our prayers.
