Our server Amit was very polite and knew exactly what we should order. The pesto pasta cheese pasta and one vegetable dish whose name I can't remember were a delight to have and so was the French onion soup . The taste the ambience the service was excellent

It’s a restaurant not a hotel.
It doesn’t provide car parking so you will have to park your car on the street. SBI being located just opposite the street makes getting a parking space even more difficult.
There is no room service.
There is no lift facility. Though it was not an issue for me but if you are planning to stay here with your old parents it is something you need to look out for.

Coming to restaurant, it’s known for its French cuisines and my taste buds are addicted to the Indian foods so it was not a great experience for me in this department as well. I ordered Indian, dosa was just average. Mutton rogan josh tasted more like butter chicken .. sweetish. The complimentary breakfast has no variety at all.

Though I booked room for 4 days, I left in two. That sums up my experience with this place. Way over hyped.

Fabulous location in the heart of French town. The food is out of this world and the cocktails are fantastic. The rooms are very neat and clean. The best courtyard for sure in the whole of pondicherry

Villa Shanthi is neatly tucked away on a quiet road in the Center of lovely French Colonial (White Town ) Puducherry . The streets around here are all interesting and have quaint eating places and boutiques . It’s a great area to stay in this City . You don’t need a vehicle as you can walk around the various streets all preserved with French names ! Be sure to carry the map provided by the reception so you don’t get lost !
This small but elegant hotel has a good vibe , the reception , dining , bar are around a courtyard and always buzzing ! The rooms are on the two floors , the one I stayed in was super large , very nice and comfortable and decorated with simple and pleasing aesthetics . These rooms are not filled with unnecessary ‘things’ or useless decor , as many hotels do , but have nice coffee , tea sachets ( try the Karma Kettle lavender or camomile for a deep slumber ) and kettle and a minibar . The bathrooms are nice as well , with a modern shower with hot water at all times ! The beds and pillows super comfy . They have a fabulous Genuine Thai masseuse on call who is really good , must give her a try !
The food is very good ( in fact the best in that area ) and they share a fancy foreign chef with the neighbour luxe hotel La Villa . The breakfast is wholesome , the poached eggs with sourdough and masala dosas divine ! I much prefer the casual yet chic vibe here ! The staff are very helpful and cheerful . Love the bar scene too ! I will stay here again ! Felt very safe during these Covid times , as they follow very strict compliance with their staff and sanitising the property , rooms etc frequently . Please note there are no lifts here only stairs .

Beautiful little hotel in the French quarter of Pondicherry. Polite, efficient and friendly staff, exceptionally well presented and thoughtfully restored rooms. The food was the best we have had in India. Pondicherry is a sweet town (if a little tired) but we would come back purely to relax and eat at Villa Shanti.
