Elegant property .. clean and well maintained ... artistic ... good hospitality ... delicious English breakfast

Cons - Room on the left didn't have door on bathroom .. most likely designed for foreign couples .. but unfortunately our parents had to take that room, and they found it difficult

Room tip: Take room on first or second floors

What a lovely, boutique property L’Escale is! All in white, you could be mistaken you’re on the French Riviera.
Check in was quick and efficient on the ground floor. Nicely adorned with a bureau and other furnishings that added to the character of the place. They also make their own jam which is on show here too - nice touch!
Our room was on the first floor. Beautifully decorated, with colourful fabrics against the plain white walls - very chic. Both the room and bathroom were clean and spacious. This is the first property in India we have stayed in (travelling for two and a half months now) where the toilet was separate to the bathroom! RESULT!
AC and fan in the room and constant hot water. WiFi was a bit flakey and no TV in the room but who needs that!
The property has a restaurant on the rooftop and was decorated, just as on trend with the rest of the property. Garden furniture (no plastic chairs here), a nautical theme and good netting to keep away the crows. Breakfast was additional cost which had a very tempting menu, croissants for one!!!
The service here is good too. They are available when you need them. They organised our onward taxi travel at reasonable rates.
The property is located in the heart of the French Quarter. The sea front is a short five minute walk, so too was Puducherry train station. Located where it was, all of Puducherry’s highlights are in walking distance. Getting lost in the French Quarter is a must, there are nice cafes, art galleries, boutiques and amazing restaurants. The Tamil Quarter is a ten minute walk away too.
Highly recommended this place, it was one of the best places we have stayed on our Indian adventure.

We stayed in the guest house from 6th Dec, 2017 till 10th Dec'2017.
As the title goes the guest house is situated at a 2-3 minutes walking distance from beach which is very nice as all the good eating joints are just a hop away. Guest house in total is nice, clean and properly maintained. However, there is no TV, and also I didn't like the paintings in my room on 2nd floor. Further, as we were travelling with a kid there was no door in the bathroom also and hence.... we had to change our room on 3rd floor. Rooms are decent and hygeinic. There is a kitchen on the third floor which helped us a lot with a kid. The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. And the owner is awesome... Nick... Overall a very good experience...

Now some other points..
1. This is a budget guest house. Do NOT expect luxury treatment. If you are looking for luxury this is not a place to be. This is a place if you have to stay for longer periods may be 2-3 weeks and your budget is tight.
2. A strict NO if you have a kid. There is no TV or entertainment options for a kid.
3. Serves only French breakfast... Very limited options. No other meals available from guest house. However you are free to cook anything in the kitchen.

To conclude we had a nice stay at the guest house as the staff was awesome and rooms were nice and clean.
However, faced some difficulties in managing the kid as similar to home we had to manage the kid's food ourselves and the laundry also.

Overall nice and clean and very near to beach!

Room tip: Third floor room is the best.

Beautiful and clean rooms, definitely the best breakfast in town. The owner, Mr. Nicolas is great and so helpful. You will love your stay here. It's close to everything and I think it's perfect for solo travelers.
