Stayed for 3 nights in March. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Rooms were nicely furnished. Bathrooms were fine. Wifi is intermittent. Would stay again. Pondicherry is small - so location is fine.

This is an old mansion which has been made over to a hotel. The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. The food was superb. We even had room WiFi (if not exactly fast).
All modern conveniences and AC. Comfortable beds and spotlessly clean.
A very good way to spend a few days with most attractions in walking distance.

2nd of 36 hotels in India. Small boutique hotel, spacious rooms, tasteful decor. Set menus for meals were a little expensive and smaller serves than elsewhere in India but the food was very good. In our room the air con returned mositure to the room which contributed to some dampness in bedding. No pool.

This is a small (10 rooms) hotel owned and run by CGH Earth chain. It is NOT a chain hotel but a unique boutique property situated in a fairly quiet part of Pondicherry but close to all the street action one would expect in this bustling town and a ten minutes dander to the sea front. We had only two nights here but wished it could have been longer. From our first meeting with the excellent manager, Mr Dinu and his staff we felt at home. We were told the history of the hotel - it had been converted from a warehouse fairly recently and was built on the form of a hollow square with the central portion open to the sky. Our room on the top floor was good sized and quiet with excellent facilities (shower/no bath) and, as in the other hotels of this chain the beds were very comfortable. The entire property was spotlessly clean. The restaurant, on the ground floor was under cover although adjacent to the open air area. The daily dinner menu was written on a blackboard. Mr Dinu explained to us that they concentrated on fish. This was very true and the dinners we had were wonderful, just like home cooking but with so many courses. Mr Dinu went out of his way to advise on and then find open (on a Sunday) a forex establishment for me. Also, he was able to contact my son-in-law's mother who was making her way down to Chennai to meet up with us and allowed us to send an e-mail to our daughters at home to reassure them we were well at no cost. Indeed we were not charged for single e-mails sent from any of the CGH Earth hotels in which we stayed. We loved this small hotel where we were made to feel like honoured guests not tourists and came away regretting we had not had more time in Pondicherry.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor rooms for quiet and views.

I should confess that as we entered the Perumal Koil Street, looking at the hustle / bustle around, we were wondering how the stay would be here? Once you enter the property, then you realise that you have come back home. Small hotel, 10 rooms...Simple and elegant interiors, reminding the old and stylish Chettinad bungalows… very friendly and receptive staff team…good, spacious clean rooms…open corridors…great food…a challenging alternate to 5* or 7 * properties..we can see value for money…Hats off….

Room Tip: room in the first floor facing the open corridor can be good option
