Positives -
The hotel complex is overall clean.
Restaurant serve good food as part of the buffet and there is a great selection both breakfast and dinner.
The staff are very friendly.
The pool area, reception and shop is modern and serves a good purpose.
Studio rooms are modern, overall good for a room abroad.

Negatives -
The hotel is located at the far end of the urban area. The nearest beach is a fair walk and the coastal area is the old town harbour. We used taxis or buses everyday to get to the more vibrant, modern and club area - los Americanos / Costa Adecki.
Safe in room incur a daily charge.
The drinks at the hotel bar require you to remortgage your own home.
Every sun bed around the pool has a towel thrown on by 7am. There is the option to lay on the grass if arriving beyond this time.
Night time entertainment comprises of a local singer performing the karaoke on a microphone close to the street edge. Seating close by, very awkward situation.
No day time entertainment / never the less the night time entertainment is N/A.

We got a package deal with Tui - £1500 - 7 nights - studio room - half board.
I felt as though it would be worth around £800 based on overall experience.

1210am, (day 2) returning home from a lovely family evening to walk through the pool area on our way to the apartment, I kid you not, every single sunbed taken/ reserved with towels on them. We stayed here last year (same time) and it was the normal come down around 7ish and put a towel out, what a shock we have had arriving this time. We were warned by a couple of people about the shenanigans this year but you think to yourself they must be exaggerating.......

There is a sign saying sunbeds / umbrella cannot be reserved yet the hotel do nothing to enforce this. At 11am (start time) the life guard does a walk around, any sunbeds unattended he will lift towels and place on the "naughty table" beside him, which people whom have left beds unattended for a long period of time get lifted and placed, we have witnessed towels that have been lifted by the hotel staff/ lifeguard not be retrieved by mid to late afternoon which shows the manners of the persons reserving these beds, this is a complete farce, it's not a holiday when you have to plan your evenings to get home for shortly after 10pm when the towel drop begins. ( apparently cleaning staff will lift any towels set out before this time )

Hotel needs to sort something out so that it is fair for everyone, the sister hotel ( Christian sur) chains it's beds up until 9 or 10am everyday when the pool officially opens.

As mentioned we stayed here last year at the same time and there was no trouble like this at all, last year we stayed in the modernised block which had air con and relatively good services, this year we have been plopped in one of the outdated rooms, walls cracking bathroom in dire need of a makeover and NO Aircon, we have had to privately rent a mobile aircon unit at the expense of 144 euro just to make the apartment habitable for the short time we are in it. There is an option of an upgrade to the newer block at a price when you complain but that's only on the basis that there is availability, yet there is not option of this on booking so everyone pays the same price yet ⅔of the guests end up in the outdated rooms and servives, hardly seems fair if I'm being completely honest.

Overall the location of the hotel is brilliant, plenty of bars and shops around and only about a 15min walk to the beach front, we loved it last year which why we decided to return but sadly this year's troubles have put a hard pass on staying with the Hg tenerife Sur again .
