just got back from 14days at ficus with wife and kids read reviews about ficus before we left but i have got to say was pleasantly suprised yes it does need bit upgrading to rooms but it does exactly what is says on tin great food, great staff, especially johnny lyndsey with kids always had kids playing games and keeping them entertained as for review saying chav/ council sorry but what he should have said was hard working class familys who save all year take kids away to enjoy there hols not sit and whine about hols because they didnt get 5star treatment at a 3 star hotel great family holiday cant wait go back

Room Tip: try not stay in rooms 4000 /5000 block next to showbar

We went to Hotel ficus , Lanzarote early May . We had been informed by our travel agent that this was a half price holiday . We did not expect miricles but we did think we had found a bargain , and were assured that the only reason for our cheap deal was that it was an end of season sale . We should have known better . The hotel was set on its own about twenty minute s walk from the beach area and shops . That was OK but if we fancied a nice relaxing hotel day we did not really find the ameneties that pleasant . We ended up going out everyday to find a more comfy garden , bar cafe , whatever .
The food in The Ficus was warm not hot , not well kept and very dull . If you were hungry there was plenty of it , but poor choice and dull , dull very dull!!
The staff were obliging but not really friendly . Fine , we can cope with that , they were never rude .
There were no pleasant area to sit and enjoy the surroundings apart from a couple of green plastic table and chairs and a few wooden benches outside the bar .
The entertainment room was drab , worn looking and small . Peoples kiddies were happy enough but not great for a couple on a relaxing break . All very low budget stuff .
The pool was small but plenty of hard plastic beds to lay on . No real comfort.
Our room was a sizable apartment , basic but clean . Cleaner came a few times but only made the bed once in the whole week and we had the same linen all week . We had said at reception but put up and shut up in the end . There was a metal stair case to access all other rooms and God it was so noisy even though people were trying to be considerate to others , it could not be helped .
The hotel was smaller than we expected . We would not recommend it to anyone. We understand that we did not pay a great deal but were told it was worth a lot more than what we payed because it was in the sale . Never again will I buy a holiday bargain !! I think you really do get what you pay for and we did not pay a lot and did not get a lot . Even so , its a pretty poor show when you are on Holiday to count down the days to return to the comfort of home , and be sort of glad to go back to work . Never felt that before !!! Disappointed !!

Room Tip: You really do get what you pay for , unless you are really lucky enough to get a genuine offer .

I returned on the 23rd of July to the UK after spending 10 nights at Ficus with my partner. We very much enjoyed our time here. We stayed in room 3109 which had a wonderful pool view (as do a lot of rooms) and was on the ground floor. The food was quite varied but had the usual classics everyday like chips and pasta which didn't bother me at all. Only about 10ish minutes walk to the beach which was nice, and a Spar shop close. Kids are entertained in the evening by Johnny and Lindsay at 8pm which I found funny to watch! Most evenings after the 9pm bingo my partner and I would return to our room + watch TV but there are other shows on after. I would stay here again and would love to still be there now! I'd totally recommend it! :-)

Have had a really good value for money holiday at Ficus. Room basic but spacious,
Food was excellent; always fresh and hot with an excellent selection. Themed nights were really good. Drinks available all day.
Entertainment during day and evening if you wished to join in but no pressure to do so. Our daughter; 8 loved the kids disco. Johnny and Lindsay excellent.
Hired a car for 4 days (80 euros) which meant we could explore the island ourselves - well worth visiting Fire Mountain, Cactus gardens, lovely little harbour at Arrieta to snorkel and feed fish, also Green Caves and Jameos de Agua.

Just back from a one night stay at the Ficus, it was a experience. It wasnt one of the most expensive places to stay on the island and it reflected in the type of people who stay there. It was mainly young familys or couples of the Chav/Coucil estate variety.

The first fe days was ok, breakfast was fine apart from them putting chips out, lunch and dinner were edible and the seemed to be a large choice but towards the end of the week it just got very boring and repetitive and we had to eat out in the end. They do try and do theme nights but there not done very well, you might get something as simple as on the spanish night they put a paella out. Snacks were ok if you like your chips to be soggy.

The drinks available were ok, it was all local as we knew it would be but the mixers and the cocktails were the worst i have ever tasted, stick to the sangria it was the only nice drink there.

The pool was really good, apart from the hundreds of kids who had parents who seemed to forget about them and let them run wild.

The apartment was dated but was good, clean and easily big enough all with pool view balconies.

All in all if your a chav you will love this place
