“Playa Bastian A7”

The apartment was adequate, but I would rate it as a 3 star apartment. It needs updating as the walls are getting a little grubby and sofa covers and sun bed covers need washing and could do with new curtains.
Bedroom was ok apart from creaky bed and needs new curtains.
Bathroom was ok apart from a hole by one light, shower was nice and hot.
In general it's a nice apartment in a good position overlooking the pool, it just needs some TLC.
Only downside was, we never had a change of towels and only had 2 towels per person for 10 days and never saw the people who were looking after the apartment.

We stayed here for a week in apartment A7 end of July/ beginning August. I had prompt replies to my enquiries from the owner. The apartment was just like the photos, right by the pool, near shops and restaurants and only a few minutes walk from beaches and the town. With 2 teenage boys in tow I was worried about them being bored but they also enjoyed the relaxation of the surroundings. The pool and surrounding areas were cleaned every day to a very high standard. Some previous reviews have mentioned the pool being cold, but it was a welcome cool down (as it was 36 degrees when we were there!) and only felt cold when entering due to it being so hot!! The pool was never crowded and although towels were put out on sunbeds early morning there were always some available.
Some previous reviews mentioned the apartment being dirty. This was not the case when we visited, but everyone has different standards of cleanliness and I would only suggest that you give it the once over if it's not up to your standards. Some kitchen essentials were there e.g. condiments, kitchen roll, ice cubes, which I assume were left by previous visitors but definitely came in handy. We went to Teguise Market on the Sunday which was a great morning out and a chance to see some more of the island. Costa Teguise town centre was great with a lovely restaurants and entertainment in the square in the evenings. We would all return to this lovely place for a relaxing holiday!

“Very Poor condition”

The location is good. But when we entered it was different story. Lighis blown, walls dirty, kitchen equipment required updating or replacing. The bed was broken to the extent we never had a good nights sleep during the whole two weeks. We reported the kithen and lighting problems to the friends of owner who do the cleaning and promised help, but none came. On our return we wrote to the owner who promised to attend to all the problems and his response was to offer a discount on our next visit! He also promised to respond when repairs and replacements were complete. We have yet to hear anything after some five months waiting . Needless to say we will not be taking him up on the discount.r

Apartment No. A67, Playa Bastian

We rented this apartment for 2 weeks over February/March and were absolutely delighted with the location just outside of the main town. Clean and compact, it was quiet, we didn't really hear the road behind us. The washing machine was a godsend. Opposite was a very good local bakery selling good value and excellent home cooked bread, croissants and cakes. The croissants were the highlight of my breakfast.

Virtually next door there is a supermarket that sells everything you would need no matter how long your holiday duration. Plenty of cafe's, bars and restaurants, and a bus stop with a very good and frequent service to Arricefe and beyond.

We met the owner's representative, whose telephone number was easily found on the coffee table along with the companion which was very reassuring if we needed anything.

However, Costa Teguise has grown from a church and a few apartments in the 1980's into a 10 mile radius mass of property, with alot of it either empty, for sale, or both. I would say that the hotels are 1/4 full. The development was expected but not on the scale I first considered. The resort was quiet in comparison to the size of the town. Everywhere sells the same tat stuff in the shops and the restaurants the same type of "processed" English food (except the little German Surf bar we found, who makes all their food from scratch). There are now many chinese, thai and indian restaurants, and 99% of the town is geared up for wide screen sport. You cannot sit in a bar without looking at a television.

Unfortunately we are spoilt. We don't watch sport and don't watch much television at home. Having spent time in Spain last September outside the British Resorts we struggled to find locally cooked food, which is why we go away to foreign destinations.

There are 2 bars in Las Caletas about 3/4 hour walk from the apartments towards Arricefe that are very good and offer fresh fish and real spanish tapas. Hop on the bus to Arricefe and by the lagoon there are a couple of very nice little spanish bars offering typical spanish food at realistic prices, owned and served by spanish speaking people.

Depending on what you want from a holiday at this type of destination is whether you want to go to this type of resort. We woudn't go back - NOT because of the apartment but because of the influx of the british influence which has sadly and massively taken over what was a lovely village.

Put that apartment in Conil near Cadiz and I'd go back.
