We were here for the day as we had a late flight. I thought it had some good points. Great views, felt small and intimate not too busy. Nice pool including a children’s pool. The rooms were spacious. There is also a small kitchen area. In need of some modernisation as it looks very dated but is charming. Downside is you lose the sun by 5pm due to the big mountain and can enviously see the sun shining down below.

This is a lovely family run hotel with helpful and friendly staff. It is situated up a small hill but the short climb is worth it fot the superb views over Kamari. The rooms were spacious and clean with the towels changed daily and linen after 3 days. Breakfast is self service and is beside the lovely pool area where you can choose to sit indoors or out. They also serve snacks throughout the day and have a bar. Vangelis gave us helpful information on arrival about things too see and do in Santorini and either he or his Aunt were always around to ask if we wanted information or needed help with anything. It was a truely lovely stay and very relaxing.

Room Tip: Top rooms for the view

Superb view and room. The personnel (family & staff) are all very friendly, and helpful. "Grandma" still chattered to us merrily, but in Greek, as she had done on our previous visit. Fortunately a young couple gave us the gist of what she said.

My wife loved the four poster bed.

There are downfalls but these are either well documented, or personal.
1) it is up a hill, and it is somewhat tedious carrying 6 bottles of water to the room.
2) we still don't like the coffee (we took our own preferred blend)
3) they don't supply feta cheese at breakfast (my own hang up, so I bought some in the local supermarket)

The walk to see the chapel in the hills is a bit daunting, but worthwhile, as is that to Ancient Thira.

As to the resort, one way streets don't mean a thing, nor do speed limits (if there are any). This applies to the Greeks as well as the visitors.

Regrettably there is no rep visits to the hotel, and from what we were told, we probably knew more about the resort and island than the inexperienced rep. Again the hotel personnel proffered information to rectify the situation.

The airport is tiny, hot, overcrowded and smelly. This is well documented, but can come as a nasty shock for first time travelers.

We ate in the same restaurant throughout, and were made to feel special in the extras supplied (coffee, brandy and ice creams). As it happened it was the restaurant we had mostly eaten in on our first visit in 2007, so the staff commented on our photos taken then.

If Thomas Cook still fly from Newcastle in 2020 we will be returning again in May. We found the May temperature more to our liking than that in September.

A trouble-free stay but needs a few improvements to get a whole-hearted five star review. First, the view of Kamari and the sea is noteworthy. Yes, it is up a short hill, but the hotel itself is nestled into the rock of the hill overlooking the bay—can make one feel closer to nature. The pool was clean and good sized for young children. Parking lot available for your rental car, desirable to get around the rest of the island.

I will offer some notes for improvements to get a full five stars. Found some blonde hairs under the beds—definitely not ours—and some dust on other parts of the floor. Just a little more attention to the daily cleaning would suffice. The towels were a bit hard—can be common in Santorini but also can be mitigated. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment—no apparent way of keeping cold items cold and warm items warm, so if eating later during the period the food can suffer some. We actually stopped having the breakfast after the first day and instead went into town.

We got a great deal (in the double digits in euros/night) but the prices were more than doubling the week after we left. At the budget price I can recommend the hotel, but any higher than that and I would hesitate for such a poor value.

Overall, can recommend at the right price; and I can see, with a few improvements, the hotel being a more solid choice.
