Last minute curry craving.

The food was ok.
Staff were pleasant and polite.

I’d say more like a good takeaway than an night out curry.

6/10

Being Indian from the UK, after a few days we, group of 8, were craving some spicy, chilly food. Taj, not from Barcelo Fuertaventura Spa was convenient.

So in we went and the rather loud décor reminded us of the 70's standard restaurants we had in the UK. We really are spoilt for choice now in the UK and comparison was inevitable. As there were veggies and non-veggies we got a chance to taste their menu. By no means extensive. It was Punjabi style cooking so we tried the fish and samosa, onion bhaji and their speciality chick peas on puri. The last did the trick for everyone. They made some extra hot chutney to accompany the starters and that chutney was excellent but not on the menu, so ask for one.

The other starters were ok. The main course was slightly better. Portions were just right.

We had the salted lassi but that was rather watery, although it must be more to do with the standard of yoghurt or milk in the Canaries?

I think the restaurant were pleased to see a group of Indians and they were very helpful and flexible for requirements. However the overall service is not as polished as we have in the UK, especially London. The décor, ambience and seating were keeping with more from Indian rather than international taste. The Punjabi music from You tube piping out from a big screen...added to a desi feel.

In summary, given that we were going to measure this against UK standard, this was an average place, but worth a visit and likely you might go back during your stay.

visited this indian restaurant again in September 2018 , I had a late flight and arrived in caleta de fuste around 10pm and there are not a great deal of eateries serving at this time , on walking past the taj tandoori it looked like they were about to close up but I asked one of the staff if they were still serving and he accommodated me even so , food was good and service too , thank you .

Bad food. Slow service. Staff not very well trained and don't seem to communicate. The waiter outside listed offers that the waiter inside knew nothing about. Popadums were average. One main was ok. The second was inedible.

Presentation of food was absolutely lovely.

Everything looked perfect and the portion sizes were generous and good value

However The Tandoori chicken and Chicken Tikka were completely devoid of any Tandoori taste and could best be described as basic plain Red coloured Chicken. Although the chicken was soft well cooked and juicy. Absolutely no Indian spice taste at all!

The onion bajhas again look fantastic but were tasteless and no spice or coriander flavour .

The Peshawar naan was OK but a little too greasy.

Maybe just an off night or maybe they had just run out of spices that night!!

But top marks for presentation. Very low marks if we talking about an Indian Restaurant
