First visit to Australia and the Gold Coast. Hotel was booked on recommendation of our agent in UK. Bad start to our visit, exorbitant parking charges and the first rooms allocated to us was damp and musty. This was soon rectified by a very helpful Kate on reception who reallocated rooms on the eighth floor which were much better. Depending on who you book with wifi is not free which took us by surprise as just about everywhere else in the world we have traveled we have had free wifi. You can get free wifi if you sign in with their loyalty program but it is ridiculously slow. So if you need super fast wifi, don't stay here. The front of house manager did respond to my email and we did sort out our differences amicably. On the positives, the staff are super pleasant, breakfast is excellent and the pool area is nice. Word to management, some showers poolside would be useful as the pool water is salty. The rooms are pleasant enough but could do with bigger wardrobes. The hotel is very centrally located and has easy access to just about everything within walking distance. Having direct access into the shopping centre was a bonus having kids that required endless supplies of drinks. So in summary, sort out the wifi and give your hotel guests complimentary parking, then you might get 5 stars.

Excellent service - unfortunately I hadn't booked directly as I booked via Qantas when making my flight booking which meant I missed out on some of my LeClub Accor benefits and didn't accrue points for the stay so be aware of that if you are a loyalty member.

The pool was wonderful the first day - excellent cocktails for poolside drinking, but super busy for the rest of our stay as it was over the Easter holiday. A short walk to a beautiful beach and plenty of excellent dining options in the vicinity. Highly recommend Mecca Bah which is just across the road.

Understated but very professional friendly service, attention to detail, great breakfast, good sized ( maybe slightly tired but spotless) lovely pool, but the overriding feature was the amazing service right through from doorman, front desk, room service to the most lovely lady who cooked breakfast for us all each day .......we arrived early and our room was ready, we asked for a late check out and that too was no problem......we had a great weekend, and we will definetly be back....thank you

Room tip: We stayed on 7th floor and had great views of beach

Stayed here for a Accor Holiday Club presentation and found the staff to be professional and friendly. We were off to a rough start when we ordered pillows off the menu before heading out to dinner - they must have come while we were out, however ringing back on our return got us our pillows in a reasonably short time. We also found the kettle was missing which was quickly resolved.

Later on, I wanted to use my laptop on the nice big screen TV - it had HDMI input but I forgot my cable. I asked at concierge, they were sure said they might be able to help by the next morning. I was pleasantly surprised when later that evening there was a knock at the door with cable which they were able to lend me a cable for the duration of my stay!

My wife and i stayed in the luxury room on the 15th floor it is suppose to be a five star hotel, we have stayed in a 3 star hotel on the gold coast and the room was alot better. We wont be staying at the Sofitel Gold Coast again.
