“Fantastic views, great stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

This is the second time I have stayed here. Check in was great, very quick and the free parking is a bonus. The carpark is a little tight and poorly designed so you do have to turn your corners carefully to avoid other cars. I feel the hotel is probably worthy of a 4.5 mark out of 5 as our stay was almost perfect, with only a few minor issues.

We arrived at our room and were very pleased to be on the 15th floor. We booked an ocean view room and although we had another hotel directly in front of our view, still had a good view of the water. We also had a nice side view towards Surfers which was great to see all lit up at night. The apartment was very spacious and well designed, with nice furniture and fittings. Beds were very comfy and so big! We stayed with another couple and especially enjoyed having our own bathroom each. It would have been nice to have a daily refresher of soap, towels etc, though it is stated clearly in the information pack given upon check-in that the apartments are only serviced for stays of seven nights or more, so it didn't come as a surprise to us.

The location here is unbeatable - directly opposite Pacific Fair and within walking distance to the restaurants and bars of Broadbeach. Surfers is a short drive away but still close enough (about a $15 taxi fare one way). It was perfect for us as we stayed around Broadbeach most of our trip, and only headed into Surfers a few times. There is still heaps to do in Broadbeach anyway. The purpose of our trip was to relax and we had some great nights out at local restaurants and also at the Casino.

Absolutely loved the view, we spent a lot of time out there just people-watching all the goings on outside. The pool was nice though it is not very big. There were always enough chairs out for sunbaking though which was good. I didn't use the sauna or indoor pool myself but my husband did and he said they were great too.

On the Saturday night of our stay we arrived home from the Casino at around 12.30pm to a 'party' in the room next door to us - extremely loud music which echoed down the entire hallway, as well as people yelling off their balcony etc. I was quite annoyed by this considering how late it was, so I rang reception to let them know (something I have never done before). Within 5 minutes the music had stopped and there was absolute silence next door. I think they also kicked some people out of the room as well as I heard some noisy people leaving in the lift. This was greatly appreciated and it just proved that the management really do care about the welfare of their guests, and those who abide by the rules. There were signs up in the lifts and buildings about the strict no noise/party policy and I wondered how strict they were about this, but this incident proved to me that they do take this very seriously. I cannot thank them enough for this, from past experience there is nothing worse then trying to go to sleep with noise from inconsiderate neighbours in the next room.

Overall we had a great trip, and the room rate was quite good considering we stayed over the busy Easter weekend. There were a few small things that annoyed me as mentioned including the carpark, lack of daily cleaning and also the note in the information pack threatening a $980 callout fee if the smoke alarm was set off. Needless to say we didn't cook any toast on our trip! As a guest you are also required to clean up all of your own rubbish, and again I feel this is probably something that housekeeping staff should do. But these were only minor issues, we had a fabulous time and we will definitely be back, hopefully very soon!! Highly recommend the Mantra Sierra Grand :)

Room Tip: All rooms have nice views (either river or ocean side), though ocean side rooms are probably quieter...

Entering our room we had a rush of excitement - faced by a full wall window on the 13th floor. Each bedroom has the same feature. The rooms are minimal and white but have all you require.

This is a smart, modern and quiet building with good car parking beneath, and a pool and gym. The fast lift whisks you quietly up. The rooms have modern furniture although some of it has signs of wear. There is a long settee, and an armchair which had uncomfortable metal arms. The big windows give you a great view but an odd feature of a full wall window with roller blinds is that to get privacy you need to pull the blind right down or leave a gap at the bottom. Our view was primarily over the Mall towards the hills with a side view of the sea and another high rise. There wasn't much wardrobe space. It was quiet and we weren't disturbed by the dual carriageway next door.

There are 2 bathrooms, one en-suite, with showers no bath, reasonable size.

A worry was the threat of a $980 fine if you set off the 'very sensitive' fire alarm and the fire brigade came, so we tested the toaster. We noticed the block next door, another Mantra, had the fire brigade twice for what appeared false alarms, a bit of early evening entertainment.

Across the road is the large Pacific Fair Mall with, said to be, the largest Myers and it is a magnificent store. Diagonally across the road is the Jupiter Casino which has a mono-rail to the centre of Broadbeach which is perhaps around half a mile from the Mantra. The centre of Broadbeach has a lot of restaurants including a great vegetarian called the Cardamom Pod which also serves a very tasty and very large NY Cheesecake with ice cream. A nice feature at Broadbeach is the walk just in from the beach with exercise machines, the beach is nice as well.

This Mantra is easy to find and to get to places. We visited Tamborine Mt which has a well tended botanic garden as well as several walks.

Overall the location is pretty good and it's a nice quiet and plush feeling building. Although it seemed some of the modern style looked good but compromised comfort. It had most of all you need.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment overlooking the hinterland. Arriving in the room the tiles where slippery. The bedroom is next to a wall which has behind it the air conditioning units for a number of rooms. They can be heard running all day and night. The location is good. Would not stay here again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom oceanview apartment. Apartment was obviously designed to be lived in rather than a holiday vacation, so, really spacious (especially the bathrooms!!). Location is about 5-10 mins walk to the beach, so although you can see the ocean, its between a few tall buildings...though the view is still OK. Facilities include two pools one heated, and a gym with good equipment. Great location across the road from Pacific Fair, and a bus stop out the front, so you don't need a car for a short stay.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel the staff were tremendous . They were polite, helpful and always prepared to offer assistance. No request too big or small.
The apartment itself was very clean and up to date with everything you need for homely living.
The location here on broadbeach is perfect for families everything at walking distance , restaurants, beaches , parks, transport, shopping and much more.
Our only recommendation for people staying here in the future is to stay in an ocean view room up high away from the main road as the first night here we stayed on the 6th floor close to the main road which was a little noisy at night , not too good for light sleepers. We upgraded to an ocean view room on the 23rd floor the next day which was serene in comparison.
Not to forget the facilities here also awesome . Great outdoor pool , indoor pool and gym .
Special thanks to Kiara .
