The location and setting of the hotel is fine, just outside of Preston. Room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were clearly trying to do their best and, to be fair, the cost, including breakfast, was very reasonable. The problem was lack of staff. In particular poor Abbie seemed to be the only person dealing with a lot of traffic at breakfast. When we arrived, there was no-one to be seen attending to the room, about 10 or so tables had not been cleared from previous guests and the buffet was running short, scrambled eggs needing replenishment. Frankly, management (invisible) needs to get a grip. I was extremely annoyed to be told I couldn't pay in cash when I tried to check out. This is an unacceptable policy and possibly illegal. The lady at reception was apologetic and she was as helpful as she could be, offering to go find cash/change but I settled with a card to avoid fuss and delay. Needs some management attention.

Unless you like a hotel that smells like an old damp towel, appalling overpriced food, blood stained cushions on the bed and room parties going on into the early hours, I would avoid this place.
The fact there were hardly any other guests here tells its own story.
Avoid, avoid, avoid

Room tip: Go elsewhere to avoid disappointment

We got married at this hotel 30 years ago and we stayed over to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, the staff were all excellent and made us feel very welcome, in the evening we was given a complementary bottle of champagne with our meal and a lovely note. The hotel has transformed into a great modern style from all those years ago we got married there. Great bedrooms, dinner and breakfast was excellent with welcoming friendly staff.

We stayed here for one night on our way from Devon to Scotland on a coach holiday. The staff were very welcoming and efficient and our room was warm, clean and attractively furnished. The food was 1st class, served buffet style with an excellent choice of good quality, very fresh items. We had a good night's sleep, the beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. All the staff were really friendly and helpful
Breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had, impressive range of cereals, fresh fruit, seeds, nuts etc. Nice breads and croissants. Scrambled eggs, mushrooms, good bacon and sausages etc and really good range of coffees. Our only regret was that we were only staying for one night
