Seehotel Grauer Baer
Ranked #1 of 8 Hotels in Kochel am See
Reviewed 4 August 2016

Set right on the edge of the Kochel See with mountains rising up behind the hotel, the setting is idyllic!
The hotel rooms are in a separate building right next to the restaurant and reception, but this did not bother us at all. There is no lift and our room was on the 3rd floor so be prepared to carry suitcases - we knew about this from reading previous reviews so once again not a problem.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a small - but adequate - balcony overlooking the lake. Smoking permitted on the balcony. Bathroom small but adequate.
It was summer and so we ate supper on the terrace outside the restaurant overlooking the lake. There is a path where you can walk along the lake.
Breakfast was served inside the restaurant by a window right over the edge of the lake. A wonderful selection of cereals, cold meats and cheeses, fruits, various breads and cooked breakfast.
We really enjoyed our one night there and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: A balcony room overlooking the lake was idyllic. I did not see other rooms.

We had a great time here as we traveled to see Neuschwanstein Castle. The room has no air conditioning like the rest of Germany. Beautiful view and great breakfast. We also hiked in the area. This was a lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Showers are really small.

The hotel is very comfortable but beware it has no lifts my room was a single and pleanty large enough the bathroom was a little to compact. The food in the hotel restaurant both hot meals and the breakfast buffet excellent and the staff very friendly. Well worth a visit ..ask for a room lakeside the rooms to the road are a bit noise- Free wifi in all rooms and in the lounge a laptop for your use if you havent one with you

Room Tip: There are ground floor rooms and always ask for Lakeside

Positiv:
This place has everything you need: a room, a restaurant and a small spa. So if you search for a quiet place to have some rest and peace - you should give it a try. Free parking is also available. The lake is fantastic!

Question mark:
Steam sauna was really cold, sadly.

We spent a night here in transit to Italy. The welcome was warm and friendly and the mountain view room adequate. Bathroom is small but quite adequate. Breakfast was very good quality and lot's of parking on the grounds. We did nit eat in the restaurant so unable to comment. We would like to return to explore this beautiful area.
