Tucked away and very peaceful, the rooms were spotless with good facilities, nice lounge/kitchen with separate bedroom off with en suite including a very good shower.
Nice gardens and pool area.
There is a supermarket and a couple of restaurants opposite, like most of NZ they will close early if not busy so be aware if like we were you are hungry after a days touring.
We stayed for one night as part of a motoring tour, not a lot around but there is a nice sea inlet.

We stayed for 2 nights with and aother couple in 2 units side by side.We could park our car right outside and had the use of a lovely BBQ area across from our units.
The pool was a little cool 22 degrees but refreshing. We had free use of push bikes and there was a tennis court.
We wished that we had had time to stay longer Pauanui was the most relaxing stay of our touring holiday.

We had a lovely 2 night stay towards the end of our four week tour of both islands and it proved to be a nice relaxing break before the move to Auckland. Stayed in a one bedroom unit, very nice with a usable kitchen and a big bathroom area. A nice small deck which was very peaceful to sit with a beer at the end of the day.
A good location for exploring the local sights hot water beach, cathedral cove etc.
The owners are very helpful and friendly and you borrow a spade for the trip to find the hot water.
The local beach is beautiful but if you are going to walk take a drink as there are no cafes anywhere near the beach which is a bit of shame but I can understand not wanting to spoil the natural beauty of the place.

Group of three couples travelling N.Z. We had accommodation for two and for four next to each other. Well equipped rooms and comfortable beds. There was seating and a table outside for the six of us. There is no restaurant on site and only two or three places to eat in the village which were all fully booked and we had to queue for food at the takeaway.

Room Tip: Book a table at restaurants in the village or queue for some time at the takeaway.

We stayed here 2 years ago on our last visit to New Zealand and loved it. The chalets are very comfortable and clean. The pool is great to relax at and get a bit of a tan. The shops are within easy walking distance as is the beach. David and Julie are excellent hosts.
