We attended a wedding at Mulroy Woods. The wedding meal was nice-unremarkable really. A waitress dropped food on my clothes & just carried on serving. Staff, in general, seemed to be going through the motions with no interaction with guests. As the guests were being seated for the meal, the bar in the function room stopped serving leading to long delays as people went into the hotel bar to be served. At the end of the meal, staff stopped serving in the function room bar leading to guests heading once again to the hotel bar which was mobbed with guests looking to be served. Fellow guests complained of waits of 20-25 minutes to be served. As the wedding band began playing we experienced this ourselves in the function room. People were ordering 2 or 3 rounds at once, adding to the delays & soon the bar had run out of a certain popular beer brand. It seemed that the hotel were trying to control/direct the crowd by opening/closing the function room bar but this led to the main hotel bar being swamped which impinged on other guests enjoying the music here. All bars seemed understaffed with inexperienced staff & mistakes were made with orders. As the hotel is a popular wedding venue, one would expect them to know exactly the staff required unless there was an unprecedented demand for drink at this one.

Dear HazyBaby1968,

Thank you for taking the time to review your day with us at Mulroy Woods,

I do apologise if a member of staff dropped food on your clothes it is unfortunate that this was not brought to our attention
as we would have addressed this at the time

As is customary, we do close the bar when we are introducing the new Mr & Mrs into their reception.
All of our bar staff have been with us for 3 years plus and are experienced at serving at function, at larger functions there can be a delay in service due to the numbers in the room.

As you can see from other reviews and our awards which we have won, your experience is not the norm.

We look forward to welcoming you back to "The Woods" again soon

Booked in for one night last weekend. Headed for the Lounge / Restaurant and ordered beers and food. Roast of the day had only one choice but ordered it anyway(edible). Other half got a steak sandwich(inedible). Got two beers and i asked for mine to be changed as it tasted bad but never got it. Other half couldn't drink hers either. Went to the bar to pay the bill and complain but only got sorry. Checked out immediately. Manager phoned the next day and offered a free night. Needless to say we declined the offer. Owen

The hotel and staff were lovely we had a great time in the hotel. The free "prosecco" on arrival is actually sparkling perry which is about €3.00 a bottle, this is fine as your free drink with getaway deals but not acceptable to be sold at €7.50 per glass thereafter. I knew what it was straight away and was a bit disgusted paying that price. Prosecco is around 12% alcohol content and sparkling perry is around 5%. And NO I'm not a big drinker but it was like drinking juice, surely the bar manager must know the difference, I certainly did!! Other than that it was a great stay the food was lovely and the facilities are great.
