Our family stayed at Olas Verdes in February 2016 (our kids were 19 and 21 at the time) and we had an amazing stay. My husband and I went back to Olas Verdes this February (without the kids) and once again, stayed at Olas Verdes. The location is fabulous. It's close to the beach, which is important to us because we go there to surf.
We use the surf guides at Safari Surf School, which operates out of Olas Verdes. The people who work at the hotel are professional, warm, kind, friendly and helpful. They do everything they can to make you feel special and to ensure you are satisfied. The food at El Manglar Restaurant is also absolutely delicious (you've got to try their nachos and their sesame seared tuna!). Their breakfasts are to die for! The staff, the amenities (they have a lovely pool with a beach-sloped entry for young kids), the service...everything is wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel, which is walking distance to everything in Playa Guiones.

Thank you for your kind review, Sylvia! We are so glad you chose to return to Olas Verdes for your vacation this year - the highest compliment. We hope you'll come back again soon for another visit. We'll be ready for you, as will Safari Surf School and El Manglar Restaurant. We agree - they are awesome and we're grateful for their partnership. Until next time.... pura vida!

Nosara is a hard place to get to, but the beach literally took my breath away when I first walked onto it. This was my family's first trip to Nosara, and after over an hour on a dusty, bumpy dirt road, we were quite weary and a little apprehensive when we got to Olas Verde. But any anxieties were quickly put at easy once emerging from the mangroves and on to the beach. That short walk from Olas Verde to the beach is reason alone to stay here. That 2 minute walk on the trail through the mangroves makes stepping out onto the sand, and seeing the beach stretched out makes it all the more special.

And aside from the beach, and the area, Olas Verde is perfect. My family of four had the 2-bedroom beach apartment, which is actually two separate one-bedroom units on the first and second floor. It was a lot of space to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The place itself is low-key with an excellent and well priced restaurant, really nice and refreshing pool, and the breakfast in the morning was outstanding. Everyone was just so nice and helpful. My son and I also took surf lessons for three days from Surf Safari which is also right on the premises and super convenient (they were also superb). And as other people here have mentioned, the laundry service is outstanding!

The hotel is on the south side of Playa Guiones and easily walkable to nearby restaurants and a short bike ride away from Downtown Guinones. If you're going to travel more inland a rental car or ATV would certainly be recommended as the area is quite hilly. We did rent a car in town just to be able to explore a little more and go to dinner at La Luna (need reservations, but highly recommend eating there). Driving around the area isn't difficult, but it's also not for the faint of heart either as its all dirt and gravel roads.

In short it was all perfect, we'll certainly be coming back.

Room Tip: With the two bedroom option, the rooms are on separate floors only accessible through an exterior staircase.

Thank you for your thoughtful - and very kind - review. You have painted an accurate picture of the hotel and it's surrounding area for other Trip Advisor reviewers. The view of the beach as you leave the jungle path never gets old! And yes, the roads do get dusty in the dry season. We are willing to put up with it though, to keep our rustic and low-key area from becoming overbuilt. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like you took advantage of many of the activities that we offer (including the free laundry service - a guest favorite!). We will pass on your gracious words to our partners at Safari Surf School and Restaurante El Manglar. We are fortunate to have them both on site. We look forward to your return. Until then... pura vida!

Ola’s Verdes is a low key, quiet, eco Hotel. They have gone out of their way to integrate existing trees into the layout of the hotel ( as opposed to normal practice of razing the jungle to build...)- lots of plants and trees through property
We had a suite overlooking the large curved pool. Queen bed very comfortable. Washroom well laid out and colourful. Modern quiet ceiling fans and high ceilings meant we could keep the windows open and a/c off right through the day and night. both the living room and bedroom had large sliding doors with screens so plenty of air circulation. Our room had toaster oven, bar fridge, coffee maker, couch, safe and high top table (4 chairs). Hotel’s restaurant (El Manglar) was amazing for breakfast (included), many different menu items available and excellent fresh ingredients ( try the surfer’s sandwich and breakfast burrito). Dinners also excellent including the fresh fish (tuna and snapper). There are no tv’s in rooms (great!) and there is a large flatscreen with many channels in the common reading room. There is a surf school, yoga deck, free bike use and quad rental on the premises so convenient location for doing activities. The 3 minute path through jungle to beach was convenient for early morning beach walks and sunsets. You can hear the waves at night in the room which I love. Staff very friendly and helpful, thanks Julianna for all your assistance. Would recommend to friends and will be back some day!

It sounds like you were able to lay right into the pura vida life that we love in Playa Guiones. Thank you for your kind remarks. We'll pass on your compliments to El Manglar, our on-site restaurant partners. We look forward to your return!

An amazing week in a gorgeous place. This hotel lives up to all expectations for service and quality. We found the small size to be l
perfect for a peaceful and beautiful vacation. Close proximity to the beach and walking distance to everything in Playa Guiones. The staff were all very friendly and in particular the front desk and restaurant staff very helpful. We loved our yoga sessions with Chris and Andrea in the most beautiful yoga platform nestled in the forest. The best recommendation we can give is that we will be back for certain. Thank you for a wonderful week.
